We leave early Sunday morning. I'm already having trouble sleeping. Is anyone else having trouble sleeping too? I think I worry too much.

That happened to me on our last trip. We hadn't been for five years so it was pretty exciting. We also went with a family who had never been and it was a "once in a lifetime" kind of trip for them so my friend who is a Disney junkie and I were up very late the night before we left just talking about everything Disney. Try to get some sleep. I know how hard it is though.

I leave sunday, too. Leaving from MN and connecting chicago. I am afraid I'll get delayed in Chicago and have to stay overnight. This is a solo trip for me.

I have Priceline tickets, so I have to stick with same flights. No standby.

What are you worried about?

herc.

I think I'm worried because I'm taking my DD3 for the first time. I am hoping she isn't scared of everything. My MIL is also going and I'm hoping she will have a good time. I'm also worried about the weather. I don't want to overpack.

I'm leaving tomorrow at noon and haven't slept more than 4 hours a night the last few. I'm leaving pets and teenagers here while I'm gone. Need I say more? :earseek:

Gee.. I thought I was the only one! My DH thinks I worry too much.. I'm just so excited and wondering about forgetting something.. !! We leave on Saturday a.m...but I have everything...tickets, rooms, etc... as long as we have the hoppers we're set!

See you next week!
:cool1: :cool1:

I know i'm gonna have trouble sleeping the night before my trip. I have to get up at midnight to check in online for Southwest and then I have to be at the airport at 4:30am, which means I'll probably wake up around 3:30!

I took a melatonin last night, knowing that I'd otherwise have a hard time falling asleep and that I'd never go back to sleep if I woke during the night. I got a good 8 or so hours of sleep, so it did the trick.

Once I get to the resort I will calm down, but right now I am so wound up!

You are not alone! We leave Sunday too and I was up til 3am last night, then the wind woke me up this morning at 8:30am and I couldn't fall back to sleep because I started thinking about our trip! I don't what I'm going to be like Friday and Saturday night.

We have to leave for the airport Sunday at 6am, so I think on Saturday night I am going to take a couple of those Tylenol PM's to get me off to dreamland so I'm not completely exhausted Sunday. I don't think I'll sleep at all otherwise! :jumping4:

I've got a tip that works for me. When I go to bed, instead of worrying about the things that might go wrong, I just imagine what I will be doing then I arrive. I think of what wonderful food I will try, which rides I will go on and basically plan each day out in my mind. Thinking about doing my favorite things is so calming that I never seem to get past the third day of the trip before I am fast asleep.

This worked great for me when going through a recent trauma. I was able to keep my mind off the traumatic events and in a good, calm place allowing me to sleep.

You may want to give it a try.

Thanks for the tip, bearzabout!

I thought that I was the only one who was wound up and couldn't relax! I bet that once I get to Disney, I'll fall over and crash! :faint: :p

Everyone have a great trip!!!!!

:flower1:

Thanks for the great advice everyone. I will try a couple of those things.

I'm obviously excited enough to be still up at 3:30 a.m.
We've tried all sorts of "formulas" and this is one that works best for times we just can't relax:
1. We quit fighting it.
2. Upon arrival check in, get a glimpse of the castle (if you must, we do), have lunch, go back to room, unpack and fall into a coma. Get up later that evening go to DD have light dinner, go back to room and, yes, sleep. :cat:
3. Next morning we're revved and ready to go.
But if you're desperate for sleep, here's a few things you might want to try:
Pretend you're on the start of your vacation and you begin with a "SPA" day.
1. No caffeine whatsover after 5 p.m. (drink lots of water instead throughout the day).
2. Take a brisk 20 minute walk around neighborhood or go workout.
3. Take a very, warm, sudsy bath w/ bubbles (read a fiction novel and play some E-Z music -- no disney books, no disney music -- that'll just rev you up again).
3. NO TV. Don't even turn it on. Need noise? Play Christmas music right now.
4. Play a soundscape tape that you like.
5. Be romatic if you can. That can set the whole vk mood.
Hope some or any of this helps?
P.S. some say hot choccolate can work (but it does have caffeine).
Good luck w/ your trip. :goodvibes

Good Day to you all. And yes I'm one who cannot sleep. Although it's taken me an hour to get to the boards.

We are leaving today and so excited.

Everyone enjoy your trips. :flower1:

We fly out at 3:20 this afternoon.(Counter is off cuz I decided to go a day earlier than I originally planned) I have been up since about 4am and my stomach is in knots. I haven't been this tense over a trip since the first time I ever flew. This is the first trip I have taken that I am the only adult. Usually my DD goes to WDW with me and she takes care of most of the planning. I have had a great time planning out this trip but I worry about something going wrong, or forgetting tickets or with my luck having problems with security at the airport. Right now I am sipping on a cup of Tension Tamer tea with hopes it will calm me a little. I know that once I get to WDW I will be fine. I am just not sure how my stomach will hold up until then. :worried:

Boy, can I relate!! I do actually go to sleep but wake up at 4 or 5 am and cannot go back to sleep. I am always so excited to check the weather, new posts here etc that I just stay up. I think my mind is getting ready for the 4 am rise and shine to head to the airport!! I pray that I can sleep part of the way on the plane!! ::MinnieMo

I cannot sleep now, and I surely won't be able to sleep once I get there....WDW just puts me on non-sleep mode...I don't think that it is stress so much as excitement...Less than 48 hours now...yippeeee!

Thanks Okapi for the great tips. And thanks to you all for making me feel better!

I haven't been able to sleep for a couple of nights. DW can't sleep because I toss and turn all night. I am excited and even though the counter says hours now, it doesn't realy feel like we are going. I see a suitcase with clothes, but I don't know. Maybe maybe once we get to the airport. :moped:
