Trouble logging in to Disneyworld.com??

Well, considering how Disney has always handled codes in the past and has always been very public in sharing them, it really isn't Disney's style to just throw something up on their website like that.

And if you want to use the "Year of a Million Dreams" reasoning, then I think its an attempt to grasp at straws. I think someone's conscience would know that, too.

I was not going to respond again to this thread but I just could not let that one go. "Disney has always handled codes in the past and has always been very public in sharing them"???? I don't think so. If that were the case, no one would ever pay rack rates. And you know what? Most people do. I did, for years and years before I discovered Mousesavers and The DIS. When I called to book CS in 2000-2003 they said $189.00 a night please and I paid it. Did any CM EVER tell me that if I muttered 3 little letters I would save $700.00? They sure didn't. THAT would have been being public with their codes!

Instead, I had to learn to play the game. Join in on the treasure hunt. Little corners of newspapers and internet sites needed to be monitored to find out the GP codes and AP codes the 5+2 codes and FLA Res codes. I couldn't even figure out the abbreviations for a year!! It's always been a game with Disney. Maybe this is just a game with a different twist.

I'm sorry that you paid rack rate.

When I call anywhere for lodging, packages, airfare or anything, I always ask for the lowest available price and then once that's given to me, I ask if there are any special discounts that may apply to what I'm booking. I've never paid rack rate unless I have chosen to. Anywhere.

Public venues include the internet, travel agencies, and those little corners of the newspaper. It also includes a simple question asked when booking.

I personally feel as though Disney is very fair. However, I also feel that taking advantage of a computer glitch is not. It's like watching someone fall down and then point and laugh at their misfortune.

I think we'll just have to disagree on this point.

I agree that seaching for pins and codes is a pain and I too have paid full price before I was INLIGHTENED but this deal seems way to over the top. EVEN FOR DISNEY!!

Paying rack rate isn't always necessarily a bad thing. For example, we had to pay rack rate in order to get free dining. I had received a pin code in my email around the same time...but it was only giving me about $15 off per night. The free dining wound up saving us WAY more money...and we had about $700 worth of free food. There was even another code that came out after the free dining deadline ended and many people discovered they either were going to pay about the same amount...or that they were saving money by doing free dining instead of the code Disney came out with. We were one of the people that saved more money by paying rack rate and doing free dining instead of using one of their codes. So it's all in how you look at it and calculate it.

If you fall down, I will help you up and make sure you're not hurt. Once I know you're unhurt-then I'll laugh and I would hope you'd all do the same! I will laugh right along with you at my clumsiness!

:rotfl2: Just ask??? If it were as easy as that there wouldn't be The Dis! Go tell that to Mary Waring at Mousesavers will you. She like to know that the thousands of hours she's spent investigating and passing out "codes" were so well spent.

.

Disney will not give you a discount on a hotel to the average person. The first time I booked I asked for the free dining plan, the CM on the phone ask if there was a code for that, I would have never gotten it if I didn't know those 3 little letters.

On the other hand my mom who goes at least 3 times a year always gets a deal whenever she calls (although she only stays at CBR and thats the only place they offer without a code to her)

I agree...I had to know the 3 letter code as well for free dining. Plus many of the codes out there are not for the general public but rather given to specific people (i.e. the email pin codes that are randomly sent out). So "just asking" will do you no good if there isn't a pin code attached to your name. "Just asking" might work with other resorts/hotels, but that's not generally the case with Disney.

I agree. I paid rack rate and received free dining, but I chose to pay rack rate. I've done this at other vacation spots, too. I pay rack rate for two nights to gain a free additional third night. It was the choice I made.

If you fall down, I will help you up and make sure you're not hurt.
Me too! And I'll be laughing with you! But I don't think Disney is laughing at the glitch and I don't think anyone else should either. It happens. I've found that often one's character is revealed in the way you handle discrepancies.

Luck of the draw! LOL We all know how well informed all of the cast members are. I would have pursued it a bit further or hung up and tried another cast member. I actually did NOT have to provide a three letter code when I called. The cast member asked ME if I would like to add the promotion of free dining to the reservation.

I'll leave it at that. I just received a call that in the grand scope of all things wise and wonderful in this world that makes this subject about 4,673 on my list of issues that impact my life. LOL

I truly do appreciate the discussion though!

You are so right..........if Disney doesn't want people to play the game, then there should be no codes, discounts etc. It is disappointing to me that anyone here finds what happened so awful. If there was a code that had been posted for three hours, and it had been sent out by a mistake by WDW. What about the other times there have been mistakes? Shame on all of us for even thinking of using a code etc. to save $$$$. We should all pay rack rates!!!! :rotfl2:

To be honest with you, and flame away if you want, I had no idea that it was a glitch, just thought it was a deal, also, had no idea what the room was until much later. Call me whatever you want, but there are actually people out there that do have some naivety left.

There is not a better group of people to publisize WDW to the public than us DISer's. We are walking commercials for WDW. On average I help probably about 2-3 families per month book their vacation at WDW, just because I love the House of the Mouse so much. (I work in healthcare so see a lot of people) These people would book their vacation anyway, but it the long run, I am sure that somehow I talk them into making their 4 or 5 day vacation into 7 (afterall, everyone wonders what you can do at WDW for a whole week :rotfl2: ) Anything I can do to help them have a magical vacation, spreading the pixie dust, hoping that they come away with the same feeling I feel when I visit.
