Trouble getting Cape May

Hi. I am wondering if anyone else had any trouble securing a reservation for Cape May. I am looking for a dinner during the 5 nights we will be at the BCV in early August and can not get any times at all. I can, however, for some reason get a dinner there when we move for just 2 nights to BLT, but of course, would rather eat there while we are staying at the BCV.

This has always been a popular restaurant and I do usually book around the 180 days, however, trying now at less than 180 days, I am having no luck. Even LeCellier is easy to get at this point. I am figuring that is because Le Cellier is now a signature restaurant and costs 2 meals as opposed to one for Cape May and you need park admission too. In the past, however, if I did not book that right at the 180 mark, I was out of luck for dinner. We are not on the Dining Plan and DH just decided we could take this trip :goodvibes so I am a little behind with my planning. I just can not believe I can not get any dinner time at all for 5 nights for early August.

Anyone else experiencing this? This is my son's favorite so I will keep trying, I guess. Thanks for any thoughts, input.

I remember reading somewhere that Cape May will be closed during the summer for refurb. I don't remember exactly what date they will be closing or for how long but, I definatley remember that they will be closed at some time during the summer because I was surprised that they would close for a refurb. during such a busy time.

**FOUND IT... on allears.net go to the dining section and then go to news and there is a small mention of the refurb. it says "A summer refurbishment has been announced for the Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club Resort. this buffet restaurant, which hosts a character breakfast, will be closed from July 9- August 4, 2012".

*Not sure if these are your dates or if they are after but, maybe they are not taking bookings right now for dates even after the refurb just in case the refurb takes longer than actually planned.

If your dates are after the refurb that above poster mentioned, just keep checking while you are there, because while we were there we booked Cape May the night before we went. Prior to going to Disney we couldn't get any reservation, so I think the cancelling 24 hours in advance or getting charged $10 per person thing is working!

Thank you so much for your replies. Yes, Mousebymarriage, that explains my problem. Those include the exact dates I was looking for. That explains why they had availability after we leave BCV on the 5th. Wow. Thanks so much for your quick and informative response. :)

We never make reservations because we like to "wing it" and not be tied down to date or park. We always go at dinner time opening and have never not been able to get it. We love to eat early and then "walk it off" and so far have gotten in if we get there and put our name in early.

I had heard it was closed but didn't realize it was going so late. Makes sense though because we have never had trouble getting into Cape May. In fact a couple of years ago we had a last minute hankering to eat there. Walked up at 6:00PM and were seated at 6:05PM. Less time than we usually wait when we have an ADR.
