Was gonna book Tropicana, but just wanted to see if Hojo had any availability, and now they do!

We've never stayed at either hotel, but want to know which one is better.

They are both the same price, so price is not an issue...

As far as breakfasts go which one is better?

I know that Tropicana is closer to the crosswalk then Hojo..

Let's go Dis'ers help a sista out! :goodvibes

I have also never stayed at either but...

If breakfast is something that is important to you then you should know that HoJos does not offer a complimentary breakfast. :sad1:

I think others can answer better on the other subjects you might be interested in knowing! :goodvibes

Ya I didn't think they did...I was planning on bringing breakfast foods anyways...Tropicana I know does have microwaves in their rooms, which is a plus, but I'm always hearing about how awesome it is to stay at Hojo and how it is hard to get a reservation there!

I've stayed at both once each before.

Tropicana-shorter walk to the parks, breakfast was basically a couple small pastries, juice and coffee (or you can buy cereal or a bagel for a buck), decent rooms but nothing special, same with the pool

HoJos-8 min walk (timed it), no breakfast, nicer rooms, cooler pool for the kids, cheaper rates usually but harder to get a reservation during peak season

If you are a breakfast snob, I wouldn't eat the Tropicana's. For us it worked perfectly because all we need is a few pastries to get us going. When we stayed at the HoJos, we made muffins prior to our trip and ate them while walking to the park in the morning and while we were waiting for the gates to open.

The walk from Tropicana is hard to beat, especially if you are planning on taking a midday break. However, if you are going to stay in the parks all day, the walk isn't as much of a big deal. HoJos has that really new Pirate's Cove mini water park with slides and a "sprayground", which is really great for kids (and teenagers pretending to be kids )

Either one is a good, clean choice and I would definitely recommend either. Sorry I didn't really answer the question about which one is better lol.

By the time this thread is done, I'll be in the minority given the huge following the Hojo has around here, but I prefer the Tropicana. The location is great and I love their pool area. If I had little kids, I'd give the HoJo pool the edge with that pirate splash zone, but for us, the Tropicana pool is great. My kids like it that its a bit deeper and the hot tub is huge. We loved our stay at the Tropicana, the room was nice, we like the free breakfast (emphasis on free lol), its enough to get us going. And of course the location.

Now all that said, the Hojo has some things the Tropicana cannot beat, namely that pirate splash zone and the grounds. The rooms are also nice sized. The Hojo is often cheaper too.

The Hojo has the amazing staff, but honestly, we found the Tropicana employees were great. They went above and beyond for us. I also have to say that we have stayed at Hojo twice and Tropicana twice and both times our room, the bathroom in particular were cleaner at Tropicana. Which is not at all to say our Hojo room/bathroom was unclean, but the Tropicana bathroom was splotless.

All Tropicana rooms have a frig and microwave. Both hotels have small gift shops although the Hojo's is a bit nicer.

The Hojo rooms are bigger but not by all that much.

I like them both, recommend them both, but once I stayed at Tropicana and BWPPI, it became hard for me to stay further away (and I know its not that far but every bit counts on my feet at the end of the day in particular!).

I agree with this statement even though I've never stayed at Tropicana. I feel the same way in regard to Fairfield Inn and it's only a few minutes closer walk than Hojos to the main entrance, but at the end of the day or closer to the end of a long trip, those extra footsteps and minutes add up quick.

OP, fyi, not all rooms at Hojo have microwaves. Only the NQQ1 and NQQ2 rooms have them. That would be the 2 queen rooms in buildings one (Premium DL facing) and two (Facing Garden Pool).

Ya, pretty much figured their breakfast would be below standard...I'm bringing oatmeal, homemade muffins, and fruit, so I would really need a microwave, which is n/a at Hojos right now....leaning towards Tropicana for sure!:thumbsup2

My and DH don't swim in hotel pools, so pool consideration is out! But you're right...once you stay sooo close to the crosswalk, you don't wanna look any further than tropicana/desert inn/park vue!

This is mainly why I want to stay at Tropicana...i'm guaranteed a microwave which I really need!

Thanks for all your input...and the winner is....

TROPICANA!!!!:dance3:

Thanks everyone!

Okay, if you aren't much into a pool scene (or have little kids that are), you definitely picked a winner! Although the pool at the Tropicana is a nice one just not as fancy as the Hojo's!

I thought the breakfast was fine, of course my kids could stuff themselves on those pastries til the end of time! Its just nice to have something quick and free to start the day off. And they don't mind if you take away things to your room or to eat on the way to the park while you wait to get in. I took an apple for each of us per their advice and it was so nice to have that for later and again, it saved us a bit of money on park snacks. Never a bad thing!

Have a great trip and let us know how it all goes!

Ya no kids (yet!)...not sure why we're not into hotel pools..my DH thinks they're unsanitary.

I was looking off Google maps and noticed that Tropicana is actually way closer to the main crosswalk then Hojo's...and for only 10 bucks more total I would rather stay closer!

I just wanted to agree 100% with everything that DLR29 said! That's one smart guy! :)
