Tropical storm Ana formed

The hurrucane season seems to have started late this year?

I was thinking the same thing. I'm been caught in two tropical storms, one in Clearwater a few years ago and another in Mexico last year, both were managed really well and the as the others have said the weather just seemed like the UK but warmer!

Yes, due to (I always get these the wrong way round!) La Nina effect (sea movement towards the California coast as opposed to going away from the coast)
They ahve had more hurricanes on the west coast than the east this year.
Still, tow more months of the season to go yet

Yeah, as said its El Nino that has caused them to be late.
Last time there wasnt a storm until August was in 1992 and that turned out to be Andrew.

Hoping that nothing as devestating turns out

More like 3 1/2 months, as end of hurricane season is officially November 30th, but in 2005 there was TS Zeta which formed on December 30th

oh dear

my husband says hell hath no fury like someone named anna lol

which just happens to be my name!!

we're already on a storm watch for Bill - Anna is too far north for us and tiddly, but Bill looks huge in its storm size. Far as we can tell here both will skirt up and into the Bermuda area after hitting the northern antilles here.

Our friends in Antigua and Anguilla are out buying some serious supplies - Bill may well hammer them if it stays on track.

The "named" storm season has started late but the storms started bang on time - July has been a very stormy bad weather month, not big enough to be named storms but constant squalls, thunderstorms and huge amounts of rain - much worse than the last 3 or 4 years so for us so far its been the worst storm season we've encountered up to this point.

We went through Ivan here as a cat 4/5 in 2004 and it wasnt fun.

How long do you think MCO would be shut for in the event of a hurricane? I was there for TSFay, but we left a day before Charley hit in 2004 so I have no experience of really bad storms and their effects on transport. And how common are tornadoes in the Disney area? I remember there was one near Seaworld a few weeks back :confused3

Currently, it doesn't look like MCO will be hit with any hurricane, maybe just a little wind and rain which would probably just cause delays on flights.

I suspect they would only close the airport completely if it got to a serious storm threatening the airport however with it being so far inland, there is a lot of time for the storm to weaken meaning it may not be that bad.

Not impressed! we fly out next saturday. I think if i had more time I wouldnt be bothered but i only have a week. Oh well ponchos it is. I just hope our flights will be ok:confused3

We are flying out on Saturday too. I don't mind exciting weather once we get there, but I do hope the flight isn't delayed...

WE have been in AK during a storm and because of the hight trees they asked you not to leave and just to get under cover the rain was bouncing off the floor and just pouring of the roof was the heaviest rain i have ever seen but in good disney fashion all CMs went out there way to entertain showing you were hidden mickeys were telling disney jokes once rained had stopped it was like it never happened

i'm going to be keeping an eye on TS Bill coz we are flying out on the 26th :scared1: hopefully it will miss florida!

epcot during ts fay, no crowds, great;)

Ana's been downgraded now as she gets nearer to the islands, though no-one can know for sure what she will do of course. If she keeps on her current track, Orlando might not see any effects. Claudette's very unlikely to do much to Central Florida either considering she's already gone past.

I think Bill is probably the biggest worry :sad2:

in the past few months this holiday has been one problem after another, i was hoping it would be plain sailing from now until we leave but now Bill has got me worried that our flights could be delayed etc etc :sad2: i don't mind getting soaked in the parks once i'm there but i'm dreading delays!

Aw  Well the most recent track shows Bill heading quite far north, so maybe it'll all be ok anyway: positive thoughts! :goodvibes

Guys,

I am starting to feel better. Ana is now down to a TD, Claudette won't affect Orlando and Bill is going far east and looks like will avoid Orlando.

Lets hope it stays fine and won't be affected for all those going out soon.

Positive thoughts!

Looking at the forecasts, orlando shold be ok !!! less than 23 hours to go to our 17 night stay at okw with free dining:cool1:

how exciting!!! hope the weather stays nice for you, have a fab trip!

We leave on Thursday and are flying into Miami.

We were there last year during TS Fay, so not to worried about the rain - although would much prefer not to have to deal with it.

My concern is flying. I hate it at the best of time and am a very nervous passenger, I know they won't fly unless it's safe to do so but I get upset with the slighest bumps - it's keeping me awake worrying about what it will be like with any sort of tropical storm in the vacinity.

I'm just hoping for a normal flight and we'll deal with the weather when we are there.

I've just got to think only 3 more days to go :yay:
