I know it's been on here before. We are going down for spring break and have ressies at the fort for one week, but can't get in the week before. Have ressies for Pop Century that week, but son really wants to camp and not be cooped up in a hotel room. Tropical palms has availability. Their web site really doesn't show too much. What are the bathrooms like and location to campsites. I know it's not the Fort, but we'll keep trying. This might have to do for the first week. Also, how far is it from WDW. Thanks

We have stayed at the Tropical Palms numerous times. It is a very clean park. Their deluxe sites (forget what they are called) are close to the bathhouses and relatively close to each other. Nice grassy sites with concrete pads. However, we have dogs and are self-contained so we stay in the sites that are more remote and not close to the bathhouses. They are much larger sites, no concrete pad but spacious. They have a very nice pool, small snack bar and great laundry facilities. It's located next to "Old Town" which is good for one evenings entertainment and it's right in the middle of Kississmee (I-92). It is a relatively short drive to Disney - probably the closest campground.

I agree with your son -- any night in a campground is better than a hotel.

We never actually stayed at Tropical Palms, but have visited twice as we are always interested in our least expensive way to vacation in and around WDW.

The staff was great both times and were more than happy to let us spend lots of time exploring every inch of the campground.

I agree with rapriebe in that the sites closest to the bath room are nice, but quite close together. the sites in the back of the campground are quite a bit farther from the restroom and other amenites, but they are a bit more spacious.

Don't expect the type of tree cover you will get at FW, but for the price, the campground is great. We found the facilites to be spotless. Very clean bathrooms and showers.

Old Town is definatly a place where you could drop a load of cash. The place is kind of like one step up from South of the Boarder in SC. Very cheesy, but my 8 year old sons dream. "look mom! Flashy lights, junk shops and rides where you can watch people spew when they get off!!!! Can we come back here tomorrow night?!?!?!"

the sites closest to the bathrooms are called premium water/electric - they are a step below the "super site" - we stay in this area every time we go. once you arrive, they drive you aound in a golf cart to pick the site of your choice....

we really like the value it provides vs. the fort.
drive time to disney is about 7-10 minutes max.
