This is going to be visually stunning!! I doubt I will even care if words come out of the actors' mouths.

And I love the Tron-i-fied Castle!! Click the image to see the trailer!

Sweet... They could probably Tron-ify the castle at night in real life using the new projection technologies...

Meh. Unless it is truly an IMAX theater - like at Kennedy Space Center, the World Golf Village, etc - stand alone theater with full IMAX sized screens, etc. then they normal theater version of IMAX isn't worth the extra cost, IMHO. The screen is barely bigger than a normal large screen and is in no way close to a true IMAX theater experience - but they certainly jack up the cost and charge you for an IMAX experience! Fail.

I am going to have to go and find out then.

They have some big theaters so i am thinking they turned one of those into it.

They have like 18-20 theaters so its not like they don't have room for it.
And it doesn't cost much more than the regular shows only 1-2 dollars depending on when it is and if they are doing student discounts.

His OS must have been Vista. :rotfl:

I would love to see Tron, Harry Potter and a couple of other movies on the imax but I'm so freaked out about bringing bed bugs home...would it be weird if I went to the movies in a protective bubble and/or mickey poncho? :lmao::rotfl:

Naaaa....

Just bring a plastic bag with you, Then strip before getting into your car, put your clothing in the plastic bag so any on your clothing couldn't escape.... and heat the bag once you get home to kill off anything tagging along.

Much easier (and more effective) to drive home naked then have to worry about squeezing into your seat at the theater wearing a bubble. :rotfl:

great tips! it just might work ;)

I have tried so hard to like science fiction, I really have. However, unless it's the first three Star Wars films (the original three), I just can't get into that genre. I want to like this Tron movie because Disney is making such a huge deal out of it, but honestly, even after watching this trailer, this doesn't do a thing for me.

Like a previous poster said, I just don't get it. What exactly is going on here? Do you have to have watched and understood the first Tron movie to appreciate this one?

Honestly... a large part of my personal excitement for this movie is the extreme eye candy goodness it promises.

And a large part of my fondness for the classic original was it's groundbreaking effects. In some ways, the originally was much much more groundbreaking than this one will be. Today computer graphics or intermingling live action with CGI is nothing. in the early 80's however, there was a LOT of work and artistry put into that film. Despite what most people think (especcially today when they watch it), most of what you are seeing is more like traditional cell animation than modern CGI.

(And I admit... I got a huge kick out of the not-so-hidden mickey they threw in the background of one scene.)

That being said... The real trick for the story (and honestly... most GOOD scifi), is to not look at the story as a sci-fi movie/story. Don't let the sci-fi setting distract you from the underlying story.

So... the original story... You have a guy who works for a large firm and enjoys running an arcade/hang out in his off-work hours. Ultimately he's a very cool guy that people like, an honest person, and pretty smart.
You then have the jerk at the company who had a tendency take credit for other people's work. The guy knows how to play the politics, and isn't afraid to step on others in his own quest for power.

Enter the sci-fi setting.... Nice guy gets sucked into a computer to keep him from causing problems to the jerk.

Now within that sci-fi setting... You have mr. nice guy trying to get out of the evil empire that mr. jerk (and his creation) have put into play. Think almost like a classic buddy movie / prison break / free the people from the evil overlord kind of plot/movie. They throw in some psuedo spiritual/religious type stuff with the users.... and Mr. Nice guy's ability to chnge the rules as one of these users within the system....

But at the end of the movie... you have mr. nice guy destroy the evil overlord in the computer world... free himself from the computer to return to the "real world", where is able to put the jerk in his place and all the evil karma mr. jerk worked up comes back to bite him. everybody lives happily ever after.

Honestly... I don't know how good or bad the new movie is going to be on a story level. but it'd be interesting to watch just because of the long delay in it's return... the eye candy potential of the entire setting... nostalgia levels... and I'm honestly intrigued by who whole young mr bridges effect they've done. I'm curious to see how it looks in the movie.

And if the hype helps get people to realize how impressive the first one was, so be it!.

(The first movie, they basically copied each frame of film to cels, then hand painted the "tron lines" onto the cell, before re-filming the now painted cells using the same methods as classic animated films were filmed. When you realize even making a copy wasn't as easy as it is today (or even 10yrs ago), you start to realize even more how impressive an accomplishment the movie was.... and maybe start to forgive the somewhat washed out look some of those inside the computer scenes may have)

I will see this in IMAX 3D if it is the last thing I do!

I'm tired of good-looking movies without good stories and characters about whom I care.

I'd take Jaws over all these "awesome graphics" movies any day of the week. In fact, a lot of the graphics kind of distract me. I'm sitting there thinking about how the movie looks instead of being immersed in the story.

MAYBE it'll be "eye candy" and a decent movie, though. We'll see.
