tripods and lockers

Are the lockers big enough to hold a tripod? If not, is there anywhere that I can store the tripod. I thought that I read on another thread that there was a place in the MK to store them but I wasn't sure if this is correct and if any other park has a place besides the lockers.

My tripod fits, but many don't. My understanding is that you can pay for the locker, but have them hold it for you behind the counter if it doesn't fit.

Thanks. The tripod is big (around three feet) and if I must, I will leave it in the car and get it later but that is time consuming especially in the MK.

That's what I do. Yes, it takes time. I usually plan to get it late afternoon when I want a break from all the people in the park, anyway.

My tripod didn't fit in the lockers last year, and they held it for me. I still paid the price of a locker.

If you're okay with paying the fee for the locker, just do that and let them hold it for you behind the desk. Less time consuming than using the car.

True, it's less time consuming. However, it may also depend upon the value of your tripod and how comfortable you are leaving it in the hands of someone who probably isn't keeping an eye on it.

In my case, I have a Really Right Stuff TVC-33 tripod with a BH-40 ballhead. That's about $1400 cost to me. If something should go wrong and the tripod goes missing, then I doubt WDW would replace it for me.

The vast majority of people at the park would have no idea about the value of this item, but it only takes on unscrupulous person to ruin your day. That's my rationale for leaving it locked in my vehicle, out of sight, until I'm ready for it.

PPs have covered a lot of the logistics of tripods/lockers, but in case you hadn't realized, all the parks (and the water parks too) have lockers.

Exactly - all the parks have lockers, and moreover there are two locker sizes - so if you find your tripod doesn't fit in the 'small', you can check the large too - maybe it'll fit in those. It's tripod-dependent - most travel sized pods should be no problem - many 'standard' sized tripods may still fit - many large, heavy-duty, pro-level pods may not. And it depends on what head you have on it. Remember the properties of a rectangle - the cross-diagonal is the longest measure - so try running your tripod from the upper right back corner to the lower left front corner as a last-chance resort to see if it'll fit.

Remember too, when you rent a locker at one park, and go to another park the same day, you keep the receipt when you check out the locker and return the key, and when you get to the next park, you don't have to pay again for a locker. The locker fee is per diem, and transferrable across parks.
