Day 2

Day 1 report here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1978973

Alarm went off at 6.30 ready for early magic hours. I’m so grateful for Bob (bolanette87) mentioning in her TR about not changing time that it made me change our travel alarm before we left home. I wouldn’t have got up otherwise at what was 5.30am back home.

Showered and dressed we headed to Breakfast. DH decided that he was going to pace himself and have just bread cheese and ham today and only have hot food on a couple of days later in the week. I, on the other hand thought, “stuff that, I’m on holiday” and had a bit of everything.

We had a nice quiet breakfast in the Diner, and headed back to the room to clean teeth and pick up our stuff. We debated whether to take coats or not. DH was adamant that the weather would improve and the clouds would disappear (it wasn’t raining at this time). In the end we were in the park around 8.05. Perfect timing, I thought.

Heading up Main Street a lot of the spilled paint had been put down for Halloween and I caught DH red-handed tracking it everywhere...

We always start in Discoveryland on EMH days, so nipped straight onto Buzz with no wait. Poor old DH has never beaten me on this, even though he plays the shooting video games at home (i play the driving games) and this time he was so chuffed to finally get to the 200,000 mark. Shame for him that I made 299,000 something. Tho’ i was seriously hacked off I hadn’t go to 300k for the 1st time and into the next ranking category. And it was all downhill from then on in, 250k was my next best score for the rest of the week. Next time, I will break 300 thousand.

We next did Space Mountain and did this a couple of times before looping back to Buzz (a piffling sub 200k score) and wandering to Fantasyland via the castle.

I like going in the Sleeping Beauty walktrough in the castle as i have an ambition to take the “perfect” picture of the Maleficent stained glass window. Getting the right light is actually a lot more difficult than you think – if its too dark the colours don’t show well, if its too bright the pale colours wash out somewhat. I did get a perfect picture a number of yrs back but that was in the days of film and i can no longer find the negative, so now i am in search of the perfect digital shot.

Anyway, the light was fairly balanced so i wanted to take a picture. But horrors, the walkthrough was closed, even though it wasn’t listed as being down for refurb. Over the rest of the week, we checked back a number of times and it wasn’t open. Until Saturday morning (more on the last day TR on that).

So, forlornly we headed to Peter Pan and then Pinocchio. After doing the dark rides we did the outdoor kiddie rides, carousel, dumbo and teacups.

Did you now you can’t do mad dancing on many Disney rides?

I swear, the teacups are much worse than the most turbulent coaster i’ve ever been on. When DH spins us i always wobble off them. The only ride to make me feel queasy, ever. You can see the effort DH is putting in...

As i was wobbling and it was nearly the end of EMH, we decided to tour the shops down Main Street. DH’s weather forecasting was then proven wrong and we had to go back to the hotel for coats. I knew he’d be wrong.

But it was ok to go back, we waved to mickey in his car on our way out.

We also used the chance to look in the village shops while quiet and there was time for a cup of tea in the room before going back for more. We spotted some nice Wall.E posters in the lift too.

After having a cuppa we headed back and went up to Adventureland. We had 11.30 ressies for lunch at Blue Lagoon so wanted to be in the area. We explored Adventure Isle and went on Pirates, then checked in for Lunch.

We were the first to arrive, and got taken to a waterside table. Ace. This is one of the reasons I always pick the opening time for lunch and dinner ressies. If you arrive as they open you are more likely to get the best tables as they’re all free and there’s no need to to rely on a good table happening to come available at your ressie time when part way through a “session”.

We settled in and watched the boats float by. I had swordfish and DH had Ostrich steak. The swordfish was a huge slab of beatifully cooked fish, i swear it was an inch thick. For afters I had the chocolate puddings and DH had the Rum Banana, which was set alight at the tabe. V cool.

Lunch had been good and i was pretty stuffed. As we exited the restaurant, DH bent down to tie his shoe lace. The next second Jack Sparrow ran full pelt past me and nearly fell over DH was was still tying his shoelace. Jack was escaping the baying hoardes and DH had nearly flattened him.

Jack stopped to try the cocktails on display on the way into the Blue Lagoon, but I think he was actually trying to regain his compsure from nearly falling over DH.

We decided to go on Pirates again and i took a few pics (again). Actually got a bit annoyed as someone behind me was taking flash pictures. This drives me nuts, it is really distracting and quite painful i find on such dark rides. I wish people wouldn’t take flash pictures when they have been told not to (and there’s a voiceover saying this as you float past Blue Lagoon and written notices). I take lots of pics but never use flash on rides. I don’t understand how people can’t learn to turn off the flash on their camera. Rant over...

Now lunch had settled we went through to Big Thunder and luckily the queue was short (10 mins).

We then went for a quick trek to the Temple of Peril. Again a short queue so that was good.

Thrill rides done we went to see my favourite little people. Yes i do like Small World, i remember riding it 13 times in one 3 day trip.

Then back to Discoveryland, Star Tours was calling and DH wanted to look at Star Wrs merchandise in the Discoveryland shops. We were surprised to see DLRP now selling the Mickey and gang figures were they are dressed as SW characters. We’ve been collecting these from the US parks so it was good to see them here too. Although they only had the first set, and the US parks have second set out too. We have a full set of both series sitting in front of the tv in the lounge.

I also wanted to look at the Buzz toys. I’ve always wanted an alien toy and wanted to get DH a replica Buzz blaster for his b’day. We didn’t buy anything then but i checked it all out before boarding my flight to Endor.

You, know, the service at Star Tours is awful, after 16 yrs of trying i have still not got to Endor.

I’d like to meet Captain Rex sometime so i can gve him a piece of my mind about his piloting skills.

:rolleyes1 :teacher: :rotfl2:

Nautilus was open so went to see inside there (while in the area) and then checked out the queue for Autopia, 60 minutes, so we said forget it (DH still hasn’t been on Autopia in Paris, the queues are always much bigger than in the US).

It was about half 3 by now and i wanted to get down by city hall to see the parade. I headed to get a position and DH went to get drinks. A nice hot chocolate that he put smarties in. Of course the smarties sank and gummed together at the bottom. My tongue wasn’t long enough to get them out unfortunately.

This day i was going to use the fisheye to get parade pics and leave the normal lens for another day.

Parade was pretty normal and thankfully the rain stayed off.

As it had been a long day the day before we decided to go for a walk around the village and lake and then have a quiet evening in the hotel watching the world go by from our window.

When we got to the room we could see there were some corporate types just starting to do karting and boating outside so we laughed at how rubbish some of them were

While we were enjoying ourselves at other expense, we had another message pushed under the door. Calling reception they said we had to move rooms because there was a problem with the door. V odd as we’d not noticed a problem.

We were given 20 mins to pack then a nice lady from reception came to escort us to our new room. I was a little worried we’d not get a view as it was a surprise when we checked in, but they actually put us in the same room two floors up. Phew.

By the time our luggage was brought by the bellhop and we unpacked it was time for dinner. DH went to the village and got paninis and we ate in the room overlooking the lake and watching it get dark.

So glad we’d not stayed in the park til late or gone straight to dinner, as i wouldn’t have wanted to start moving rooms later at night. An inconvenience, but as it turns out only very minor.

We put on our hotel bathrobes and settled in to watch the Disney channel before dropping off for an early night.
