Hello everybody

I have been constantly going over these boards since booking our 2nd trip for the 17th Feb for 3 nights at the Cheyenne and found many a good tip and very useful info. But what I want to know is:

Are all the shops at Val d'Europe and at La Vallée Village, expensive designer shops or is it like a McArthurGlen?

I know to get the train and it's only 1 stop, but could someone explain to me in a really simple way, were to get the tickets from in the station and anything else I may need to know? There is only going to be my 7yr old daughter and myself and I don't speak any French ( except counting to 10, not much help ) so really would need to know what to do, so I don't stand there like a blubbering idiot!

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

You can get a mini bus from the Cheyenne door to door for, I think 5euros return, just ask at the concierge desk around about 10.00 am and they will phone for the bus to come and pick you up. Personally I found it more designer type shops (read expensive) than McArthur Glen and even when we walked right through to the shopping centre with more "ordinary" type shops we didn't find anything cheaper than at home. My daughter did buy some make up in one shop but when we added the cost of the bus to get there I reckoned it wasn't much of a bargain :)

OK in my best school girl french - say to the ticket person "deux billet allez retour pour Val de Europe sil vous plait" - that will get you 2 return tickets to Val de Europe. You need the small ticket booth on the top level of the station. Go down the escalators and there will most likely be a train in. Look at the signs and it will list Val de Europe as one of the stops with a small neon square lit up next to it if it stops there.

Get onto the train and wait. When you hear a beeping sound the doors are going to close and you will be off.

Its literally a couple of mins and its the first stop. Get off the train. Exit the station (only 1 exit so can't miss it) and turn right out of the station. Walk to the end of the road and the shopping centre is ahead of you.

The main shopping centre is first (this is all indoors), then food court and Sea Life centre and then the outlet village (outdoors)

Is there a supermarket of any kind we are staying in bussy so we could get snacks drinks ect to take back

When you first enter the indoor bit "Auchen" is inside here. they sell everything from food, baby nappies, fresh fruit, drinks...everything.....wish I had of known this last time. :)

They also speak english at the ticket booth in the station, or you can use the ticket machine which can be switched to english as well.

Actually there are indeed 2 exits at the Val d'Europe station, but the one leading to the shopping center is clearly marked, it is the main exit as well.

If you just want to buy some drinks to take to the room, there is also a mini-market inside the station in Chessy, I think they do have regular prices not higher "Disney prices" :-)

EDIT: Sorry, just noticed you are staying in Val d'Europe anyway, so Auchon is convenient. But for those staying in a hotel at the resort, the mini-market inside the station in Chessy might be handy.

Thanks everyone.

So there are ticket machines I can use? I don't have to speak to someone? That's easier for me. (As long as I can understand how to switch it to English!)
I'll probably still get confused, but hey, it's probably the " thinking too much" that is more daunting than the actual doing!!

No, I am actually staying at the Cheyenne, so I will take your advise Marc & use the mini-market. Thanks for that.

The garage beside Santa Fe has groceries, water, beer, wine and other essentials :)

Wish I had of known about the garage when I was at Santa Fe last year.

However I know now for Cheyenne in May :cool1:

I brought a La Vallee Village brochure home from DLRP last time and on the cover it says
"5 mins from your Disney Hotel"
then in the "How to get there bit"

With our shuttle service
For our shuttle service available from your Disney Hotel, please contact your consierge.

No mention of costs or frequency I'm afraid, but it might be worth asking about when you check in. :)

I've got a brochure I picked up in 2006 ~ the cost for the shuttle then was €5 adults €2 children for a return trip.

We used this and it was great door to door service .You will be able to find the brochure in the hotel. We used the shopping centre last year when we had to buy clothes to wear when our suitcases went missing.

The large supermarket Auchen reminded me of Walmart with everything under one roof. We also shopped in GAP and there was a fantastic sports shop. If you like your make up and goodies like that go to Sephora :lovestruc . There was a Quiksilver shop as well. Didn't find it was any cheaper but I dont need any excuse to shop :)
