We went to Disney for the week of 10/15-10/23. My children are 2.5 and 15 months. Here are some tips and info that I observed with my children:
Plane
This was the first time on a plane, while waiting in the airport I had crayons and stickers and little things to play with for the kids. It worked out very well.
Stayover
We had one night before we could get into the hotel. So we went to my uncle and aunt's house. I had left outfits out for each of my kids (besides the extra one in the diaper bag) so we didn't have to dig into the suitcase before we unpacked at the hotel.
Diaper bag note
I always sunscreened the children before we even went out. We had a sun scalp spray for their heads, face stick and lotion.
As part of our backpack in the park, besides two sets of spare clothes and socks, we had swim diapers and swim shoes. Also, as part of the backpack with our cameras, we had extra tape for the video camera and extra batteries for the digital camera. And we did use all these things! We had rain ponchos in the bag every day, just in case.
Parks:
Magic Kingdom by far was the most magical and amazing for my children. Fantasyland was wonderful. They loved Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, the spinning Tea Cups, Dumbo, and It's a Small World.
They also loved Magic Carpets, Buzz Lightyear, and the Tiki boat, and Swiss Family tree house. Cinderella's castle mesmerized them, especially at night. They loved seeing the characters walking around and loved the Cinderella show outside.
The biggest hit was the Pooh's playground and sprayground. Both my children adored it and stayed a very long time. (Swim things came in very handy and so did extra clothes when it was over).
DS (2.5) did not like and left at the beginning of Mickey's Philharmagic. Also he did not want to see the parade or any firework shows. He did not like the darkened theatre or loud noises.
MGM
Both loved and played a long time in the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground.
DS 15ths loved Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. DS 2.5 did not want to see Little Mermaid due to the darkened theatre. Fortunately, they fell asleep so we were able to enjoy other rides.
Group note
We had gone with my MIL and SIL and her children. Her kids were 7, 5, and 15 mths. We would go in separate directions sometimes just because of the age difference and interests of the children.
Character Meals
Crystal Palace: Both my children loved Pooh,Piglet,Tigger and Eeyore. DS 2.5 loved hugging the characters while DS 15 mths was a little more hesitant. They both loved the little parades.
Cinderella's Castle Lunch: They both loved the princesses and were quite flirtatious.
Liberty Tree Tavern: Both my children were more cautious and didn't go by Chip and Dale, or Minnie, Goofy, or Pluto.
Last notes:
We always left early or went later in the day. The day of the MNSSHP we didn't do the parks in the day, just started the day with our 4:00 seating at LTT.
Also,we were fortunate to be able to walk on many rides, or have a minimum wait 5-15 minutes for others.
Hope this helps anyone with children similar in age.
