The background-I'm 23, single and live at home with my mother. I'm her only child and my dad's seventh. As you can see by my signature, I'm planning a trip to WDW in December-I've invited my mom, but ATM it's looking like it's going to be a solo trip.
Anyway, today as I was driving home from work, it hit me that I'm going to be in WDW on the anniversary of my dad's death. And I was struck by guilt-do I go? Can I leave her alone. I'm pretty sure if I ask her about it, it'll be fine, go, but what if she needs me and I'm not there.
Would you reschedule? Just go about your plans and call a lot?

I think it would depend on how many years since your father's passing. I know I wouldn't be able to go if it were the first anniversary of his death, but any years after that would be okay. You know your Mom - is there someone else who could take her to lunch on that day - or be with her?

Its too bad that your Mom can't join you on the trip, it seems like it would be a good place to be on a sad occasion. It would be a fun mother daughter trip. If that is definatly out of the question, then maybe you can plan to go a week earlier or a week later, but not cancel all together.
I'm sorry your dad passed away.

Thanks. Thing is-I'm trying to avoid Pop warner week, then the next week I should be home to help prep for Xmas. ::sigh:: at least i have 10 months.
