Hi All,

I'm looking for everyone's thoughts on the best week in September to go to DisneyWorld. We were thinking later in the month would be best because I assume there would be lower attendance so shorter lines, and also that the temperatures might be better. My BIL, however, wants to go the first week in September.

I would so appreciate any and all advice!

Thanks.

As the month goes on (other than Labor Day weekend) the crowds progressively get heavier. So the parks are pretty empty the first two weeks of September. September is HOT, HOT, HOT in general. I have heard that the love bugs come out toward the end of September. They are definately not out at the beginning because in 4 years, I've never seen 1. My thought on why the parks are emptier the first two weeks is that those weeks are often the first two weeks of school for a lot of people and people would be hesitant to pull their children out right at the beginning of the school year. However, this year, MNSSHP is scheduled throughout the entire month of Sept...which means that the crowd levels might be slighty higher. If you are planning to book for this Sept...I would do it soon. Rumor has it that Free Dining might be announced next week or the week after. If it is, the restaurants are going to be PACKED and choice ADRs will be harder to come by.

I have been twice in September 2001 and 2005. We were at WDW from Sept27-Oct 4th in 2001 and Sept 20-27 in 2005. Both times we had very nice weather, only one day of rain on our last trip. In 2001 there were no lines, I think a lot of people cancelled their trips. In 2005, it was busier, we did everything we wanted to do. If he wants to go in early Sept, I would go right after Labor Day.

We went last year sept 16-20, we had very good weather (one day it rained for like an hour. We are going this year sep 8-12. That was the only time I was able to get the hotel we wanted (the rest of the month was booked). The crowds when we went were very minimal.

Hope this helps

We went in late Sept for MNSSHP and the crowds were not low but never like in June. Once the MK was walk on every ride all day but the CM's said the day before it was packed.

I believe it is just finding the right park on the right day.

I would get myself a copy of the latest Unofficial Guide to DisneyWorld and take a look. I have an older copy, I think it is 2005, and it came out before free dining brought in the crowd levels, so it is not really all that accurate for September crowds.

We are thinking about the 14-26th.. but I'm concerned about crowds (and heat!).
It sounds like the whole month is going to be pretty busy, due to the probable free dining offer.

It will still be quite hot regardless of whether you go the first week or the last week. Labor Day weekend is crazy. After that though, it is quite pleasant. Now, some problems you may run into is the MNSSHP. However, we have been to MK on those days before, and it was great until around 4:00 or so. Then it started getting crowded, and of course, no fireworks for us that night. Oh, and the pp was right about the love bugs. We usually don't see them until Oct, but they have been known to make an appearance in late Sept. They're harmless but oh so annoying.

There has been an increase in crowds in September since Free Dining has been offered. I am sure there will be more of an increase if it is offered again this year. It is not overly crowded but, it is not as quiet as it used to be.

We have gone in September for the last 12 years. Usually the second or third week.

It is always HOT. Usually quick rain showers in the afternoon. We always welcomed them...lol. There was literally a monsoon on 9/14 for our MNSSHP. I had never seen rain like that night in WDW.

We were there the 13-22nd and it was pretty crowded compared to what we were used to.

Love Bugs were out in full force in 1996. They were everywhere and they were awful!! Thankfully, we only saw one or two this past trip.

We are skipping September for the first time this year.

I think any time in September is good. We have went in September in 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007 - it has definitely been more crowded the last 3 years with the free dining. BUT it is still not summer time. We have went the week of Labor Day several times and as late as the last week before. Besided Labor Day weekend itself I don't think there is much noticable difference between the varying weeks. This year we are going 9/13-9/21. And the year we went the last week in September was HOTTER than the other years so in September you just need to plan on it being HOT and having an afternoon rain shower around 2-3pm every day.
