Thought i'd post a report of my New Year trip to DSLP.

Stayed in Sequoia lodge. Very nice overall. Have stayed in Newport Bay before, but I recommend the lodge for winter as it is a lot more cosy and the huge open fire in the bar is a nice touch at the end of a cold day. Only thing that annoyed me was them putting the drink prices up on new years eve. Ate in both restaurants. Buffet restaurant was good, but the a la carte was a bit hit and miss. To be honest, I would'nt eat in there again. The village restaurants are much better.

Weather was very good. Not too cold. However, rainy at times, but the temperature was good.

I caught my premiership plus game in the Sports bar. I was even more overjoyed as we won via a 90th minute winner:banana:

Worst thing overall (but I should have expected it) was the crowds. Absolute rammo! Could'nt get on Big Thunder, Buzz, Indiana Jones and others. I enjoy my rides, but an hour is too long to wait and the fastpasses were coming out at 9 o'clock at night.

Also, I was none too impressed with the new year fireworks display. Legoland's is better. However, someone mentioned that they may have had to tone it down because of the wind.

Best bit was the new pirates ride. Brilliant. Even the queueing in that is enjoyable because of the cracking set and effects.

Want to go back in May. If I go towards the end of May when the kids are at school, should I have a good chance of decent weather and crowds?

I think 28th May is a French holiday and there are a few others 'blacked out' in our annual passes around then (usually an indication it's busy)

The week beginning 21st May is clear of blacked out dates if that helps.

We're going on 31st may for a week we may see you there:goodvibes

I'd love to be there for New Year, but I don't do crowds or queues, arrived on a Saturday last visit and thought that was bad enough - I'd just end up sulking.

Good news about the match:thumbsup2 and glad you got to make it onto some of the rides. Enjoy your May trip:)

I agree. We went Fri, Sat, Sun last time and the SAturday queues even in January were enough to make us book Mon-Fri this trip.

Glad you had a great trip. :goodvibes Hopefully you will have better weather in May ;) Weekends are always busy ~ even in August at the height of summer you can tell it is much busier on Saturdays and Sundays.
I caught my premiership plus game in the Sports bar.

Glad you saw your match!:thumbsup2
