Firstly, an apology. At the end of the day 2 instalment, I stated that day 3 was to follow shortly. We are now 6 months down the line and after a fairly arduous few months away with the Army, im finally able to write about day 3.
After the previous nights entertainment at Buffalo Bills, the better half and I decided that we would have a slightly later start. So we didn't leave the hotel until 0900hrs. There was also another reason for this - I had booked a character breakfast for my wife as a suprise at Cafe Mickey. (Who says you need kids to have fun at DLRP
)
There was so much fog that you couldn't see the lake from the SL, but we followed our noses to the village.
We had a fantastic breakfast and Helen got to meet her favourite character - Eeyore. (Although there was to be a rival for that title later). Needless to say, that after the few things that had gone wrong on the first couple of days, life was suddenly a whole lot better
I must say that the food at Cafe Mickey was really good as well and the service was fantastic. I have had a few issues with customer service during this trip, but Cafe Mickey was brilliant
We headed to the park after that and went straight to POTC. We both love this ride and it was an ideal time to have a think about what we were going to do that day.
Character hunting was top of the list and we went round the park collecting what seemed like hundreds of autographs. The one thing that really impressed me this year was the number of characters that were out. In the prvious years that we have been, there has been maybe 5 or 6 charcters around, but this year, we counted an impressive 26 outside of IASW at the same time, including loads that we had never seen before
Charcters took up most of the morning and after having a fairly confusing talk with King Louis (I dont speak monkey
), we started to walk towards Main St. I said we 'started' to walk, because about 2 seconds later, I caught a glimpse of some mad man in a huge hat and strange clothes running towards us shouting something about being lost in the fog.
The Mad Hatter (if you hadn't guessed who it was) grabbed my wife by the hand and started running with her towards the carousel. He kept asking her if she had seen the Queen of Hearts. When she said no, he wished her a happy un-birthday and asked if she had any tea
After giving him a kiss and posing for numerous photos with him, we left the Mad Hatter to let him annoy Mary Poppins in peace
We then decided to head to BTM and PM which we love. On the way over there, we met Jasmine and the Genie in Agrabah, so we had to have photo's with them and then we finally made it to Halloween-land.
After riding BTM and PM, it was time for luch, so we went to Casey's which is a great fast food outlet. There was some seating outside, so we decided to eat there. Whilst I was inside, the charcter express came past and Helen managed to get some good photo's of it.
We decided that we would head over to the studios after lunch. Partly, because we wanted to go and see Cinemagic and Animagic, and also because I had some insider info
I said earlier that Eeyore had a rival for the title of my wife favourite character. This rival happens to be Koda from Brother Bear. When we had gone to DLRP in 2006, she didn't manage to get a photo with him, because there were too many people around. She was really disappointed, so I thought that I would see if I could amend that this year
I had gone to City Hall earlier that day to ask if they could tell me where at what time Koda would be out in the park, and they told me to be outside Cinemagic at 1400hrs that day.
We got to the studios about 1315hrs and we went for a ride on RnR coaster (awesome ride). I then took my wife over to Cinemagic about 1345hrs and said that I needed to sit down for a few minutes and have a drink. Sure enough, at 1400hrs, Koda appeared and I became a blur to my other half
She ran over to him, and he hugged her. She walked arm in arm with him over to his area which she loved and I took some photos of them. She got an autograph and a kiss (starting to see a pattern here
) and then we said goodbye as loads of kids started to descend on him. She told me how lucky we had been to be in the same place as Koda and that she was really happy that we had stopped. She still doesn't know that it was rigged
We went into Cinemagic and Animagic for the shows. They were both absolutley fantastic and I would recommend them to anyone.
After the excitement of everything, we were both quite tired and headed back into the Park to go on Buzz (which I was beaten on hands down).
We decided that we would have a quiet night, so we stopped off at McDonalds on the way back to the SL, and went and chilled out in our room for the evening.
I will make sure that the next day's entertainment is not 6 months away, I will write it up shortly and post it for you all to read
