Left Miami around 7 am and arrived at Riverside around 1pm on Dec 11. Room was way out so we requested a change to one closer to the main building. Took a while and the CM really didn't seem to understand that with multiple problems all need to be accommodated. Finally got an acceptible room arranged and I headed out to MK for the parade. Headed to City Hall to get my GAC and then immediately to Liberty Square for the parade. Got settled just in time for the interpreters to show up. Got a big hug from Marvin and said hi to Kelli. After the parade I took off back to Riverside to join DH for dinner. After dinner he headed for the room and I headed to the boat for Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island. After exploring the Marketplace I went to Pleasure Island and met up with Dania (DisneyCP2002) at Comedy Warehouse for a few shows. Tara and Vince were the interpreters for the night. It was great to see both of them again. Vince was one of the interpreters on my DCL cruise this summer along with Angela, Marvin and Theresa. I would end up seeing all of them except Theresa this trip as well. After Comedy Warehouse Dania and I split and I took the bus back to Riverside to join my husband.

12/12 I was scheduled for Wild By Design, a tour at Animal Kingdom. This was a total disaster. I had requested an interpreter but the coordinator felt I would be able to use the headphone devices. Well they were not they type that I can use and I was hearing less than half of what the guide was saying. After trying several different sets I ended up giving up in frustration and leaving the tour all together after they agree they would return my fees. I was told that the headphones were of the Walkman type but they were not at all. Instead of flat headpieces that sit on the side of the ears they were the ones that are smaller versions of the ones that go over the ears.
Once I left AK I headed for EPCOT where I met up with Dania again and we were of to Living Seas where Alan would be interpreting for the first part of the day. After that we went to ride Imagination before going to the Land for Living with the Land. Well I never got to Living with the Land. Imagination broke down while I was in it and I had to be evacuated by Reedy Creek Rescue. They require that with any guest in a wheelchair. Dania was able to get out and go on Living with the Land with Alan but I just missed it by about 15 minutes. So Jim and I ate at the food court and then we went to the House of Innovations where I met up with Dania and Alan again. After we finished that Dania and I decided to go to Honey I Shrunk the Audience and Alan being finished for the day left. Dania and I went on the see A Christmas Carol in England interpreted by Brian. This was the only chance we would get to see him this trip since he was off the next morning to interpret a cruise. Then we decided we wanted to see Candlelight Processional so we went to get in line for that. While walking by we noticed that Tara was interpreting the first show so we watched for a bit and enjoyed her but didn't get to say hi. We got into the 6:45 and took our seats. Angela was interpreting this show and she was awesome. She is so into the music and makes it really exciting and enjoyable. And I love how she sticks to the real interpretation even when interpreting in a foreign language. I noticed this especially with Silent Night in German since is my first language along with English. ( 1 parent spoke German. the other Englsih to me. By the time I was 4 I was trilingual) We really enjoyed it. It also let me see a few songs that I will be interpreting Christmas Eve and tomorrow like Hallelujah Chorus and change my interpreting a bit for these.

12/13 Today is the day for Animal Kingdom. First off is Festival of the Lion King. The interpreters come out to say hi before the show. It is Vince and Kelli. Vince gives me some help on a song I am working on for church. Dania arrived just before the show. I was disappointed that Jessie was not the Bird today. I really missed seeing her. Then to Pocahantas. After that Dania went to ride Touch to Be a Bug and we met up again at Tarzan. I love this show. Off to lunch with Dania and my dh. Then to Flights of Wonder, always a good show. Finally we head for the parade. Now this was to be a great surprise for us. I've seen this many times and love it. Vince is joking around and playing a bit, teasing me. Parade is great and then Pluto arrives and jumps up on the interpreters platform and starts to sign the parade. Shock! And he did a good job! The parts he couldn't do because of the paws he handed off to the interpreters but Pluto really took over. Who knew Plute knew sign language! Now we leave and Jim and I head for EPCOT and a hassle which Dania heads for MGM and Fantasmic.

EPCOT parking was a real hassle. The castmember there tells us we cannot park in handicapped because it is full and must park out and use the tram. Excuse me! I have a power wheelchair which doesn't fold. What am I supposed to do? Don't care attitude from castmember. Not his problem. No parking so you can't go there. Well my husband defies him. We are stopped again by another CM with the same nonsense. Can't go there because parking is full, not even to drop me and power wheelchair off. Finally get a supervisor that agrees we can go and drop me off and Jim can come back and park. I go over to the American Theatre and the CM there let me watch from the back and see Vince interpret this for his first time. He did great!
Then I get in line for the 6:45 show which I have reservations for. We watch the Tree lighting from the line and then file in to our seats. Narrator is Steven Curtis Chapman. Angela interprets again tonight and is wonderful as usual. After the show we go to Germany for dinner and are seated with another family with a wheelchair also. After the CM seats us with my dh next to me meaning I will not be able to talk with him since I need to see his mouth, one of the gentlemen in the group suggests they switch so I am oppostite DH and his Mom is opposite his Dad. Works much better. I keep looking at this one guy trying to figure out where I have seen him before. Turns out he is a CM at Comedy Warehouse named Kyle. I've enjoyed him many times. I think he realized I am the one who always has interpreters for the show. Very pleasant person. Then we go watch Illuminations and leave.

12/14 MGM today. It is wet and rainy so Indiana Jones is only the first scene. Summer is the interpreter. Dania is joining me again today. We decide we have time so we go to do Star Tours only to find that the ramp is too slick and my wheelchair will not go up it with out the wheel slipping. Yuck. So we decide to go to Muppets 3-D. Great fun and the CM were great setting up captioning for me. I enjoyed it. We then decide to do Millionaire and get the fastest finger seats. Fun and the host is really clear and easy to speech read. Questions I can read. Go out and come back in for the next show with Summer interpreting. Dania gets faster finger seats again. I get to on the board several times as high as 3rd. Dania get there once. Then we do Backstage tour. Then Animation Tour and Beauty and the Beast. On Animation Tour Dania is given the CM sketch. Lucky girl.
Then off to the Magic Kingdom for MVMCP. The shows were great with Kelli and Marvin interpreting. Only one that is a problem is DIamond Horseshoe. Where wheelchairs are placed gives a very bad sight line to the interpreters once the people get up to dance and the CM didn't want me to move to where I could see. Finally I was allowed to move to where I could see but that was half way through the show. Another problem was the fireworks. In order to be where I could see the interpreters for the castle show I had to get in place prior to the fireworks. This meant the castle blocked the fireworks for me completely. All I could see were a few tracers. None of the bursts. Very disappointing.

12/15 Checkout day! Wake up to find my wheelchair didn't charge properly. I was furious. I had to rent an ecv in the parks. Well I will tell you. CM attitudes change completely when you are in a rental and not your own power wheelchair. TG Dania was with me for most of the day. In the morning Alan and Sabrina were interpreting but for the parade Kelli and Marvin came in. And Sabrina interpreted Scoop's Pin Talk for me. That was lots of fun. After Sword and the Stone we unfortunately had to drive home. :(

Met a few DIS people on this trip including AngiBelle, DisneyCP2002, and Chuck. Had my DIS lanyards on making ids easy. Worth the price.

No trips planned in the near future. Probably June at the earliest.

Glad you had a great time. We were there at about the same time-same parks. No fun with the rain at MGM. Don't think we'll go in December again, at least not for awhile.

Peace
G4L

I always go in December. I would not miss Candlelight Processional for anything even if it meant going for 1 day only. It is part of my husband and my Christmas tradition.

Wonderful report ~ Thanx for sharing.

we were there at the same time and this is the first time that I really watched the interpreters for a while. we were right across from one in Liberty Square for the parade and at the Lion King Show I was mesmarized by their antics!

Too bad about the tour, but it seems like you had a great trip!

Kathy Wow. I was the one in the purple wheelchair that was watching the interpreters. Their antics are super. The parades they can have some fun with but Lion King Show is pretty much scripted. But since Vince was the male interpreter he threw a few things in on me. He was even funnier at the AK Parade plus Pluto hopped up and interpreted as well. Now that was a blast. Pluto did a good job of it. He really knows what he is doing.

Great report! Thanks for sharing Lisa!

I think I might have been on the animation tour at MGM with you. I noticed there were interpreters on stage! I was thinking it must be hard to keep up with all of Mushu's banter :p As we were leaving ... my boyfriend says you know there were people in there with DIS green buttons... Well, thanks for telling me   I had the sniffles anyway so it was probably for the best that I stayed well away from everyone.

Dania and I both were wearing our DIS buttons and I had on my DIS lanyard. We really enjoyed the new tour.

I enjoyed reading about your trip.
Hope your power wheelchair is back to normal.

Need to get a new cord. It is not connecting at times. Has several years of wear and tear on it.
