Day two: 10.04.2007
I probably slept about 30 minutes the whole night as I never sleep well in a strange bed and the fact that my niece takes after her father, so they were both snoring really loud. I gave up trying to sleep when my BIL’s and sister’s alarms on their phone went off really early as they forgot to turn them off. I got up at 6.45am and had a shower, whilst my sister got my niece ready. At about 7.30 we headed down for breakfast, Pluto was the character we saw. No queue when we arrived and were seated straight away. Nice selection of food to eat, they even do toast now, something they didn’t do when I last stayed. After breakfast we went back to the room to get the pushchair and bag for the park. It was another very sunny morning but chilly, I was wearing shorts, so I went back to get a jumper.
We went to feed the ducks on our way round, my niece was sitting with a bit of bread in her hand and didn’t see the duck walk up to her and took it from her, she started crying whilst we were all laughing at her (great family we are!). We entered the Village as we were walking past, the Marriott people greeted us by saying hello Americans, after telling them we weren’t American they asked if we were Irish, in the end we told them we were English, bearing in mind my sister and I are from Kent and have no regional accent. After going through the security checks we headed to the turnstiles, it was 10am and there were many people queuing for tickets already.
Once through we was finally in Main Street, I decided to film whilst my sister took pictures. I tried to get a picture of the Castle, which looked fantastic with its new decorations from Main Street, but there were too many people, so we decided to do it later. My niece wanted to go in one of the shops, so we went in and had a look. We then looked to find my niece had a Princess Minnie plush toy and she was trying to give her a drink from her cup
. Main Street was still crowded so we went along the arcade; we saw the “Alphabet You Are” parade in the distance. Our plan was to head for “It’s a small World”; I agreed to go on it once, as the song is really annoying. On our way we spotted lots of characters including the Princes & Princesses. We took my niece over to the Sheriff of Nottingham but she didn’t take took him once we were close, the same happened for Prince John. We had a photo with one of the chipmunks and she was fine with him. The other one came up after a while and hugged her and my sister and played with them for a little while, which I got on video. We couldn’t get near Tigger so we decided to get on “It’s a small World” as there was no queue. My sister videoed this and my niece loved it, she loves music and she was fascinated by it all. Next up was the Story book ride, not much of a queue but someone thought it would be great to let there child climb on the railings and walk round, which held up everyone. After about 5 minutes we were on the ride, we just got to the Snow White part when the ride stopped as the same man who let his child climb on the railings thought it would be good to sit on the back of the seats! After the ride stopping a couple more times we were at the end. It was getting on for 11am nearly time for my nieces nap, so we decided on one more ride before that. We queued for about 10 minutes for the Casey Jnr ride, at first my niece was fine until it sped up and she hated it and was crying, whilst my sister and I laughed. I managed to film her expression from happy to sad which made it even funnier watching it. By now my niece was tired so we put her in the pushchair and took a slow walk round, it was also getting very hot so my sister decided to go back to the hotel with my BIL and niece. I stayed and headed for Frontierland to ride BTMRR, however the queue was over 85 minutes long and you couldn’t even get to the fast pass as the queues spread right across, so I decided to head for the studios to go on the Aerosmith ride. Walking through the arcade I heard the announcement for the Disney Express, so I walked out to watch this, I managed to get a few pics with my phone camera. Pluto, Eeyore, Captain Hook, Smee, Tigger were aboard the train.
I headed into the studios and it was quite empty, so I headed straight for the Rock n Roller coaster. I queued for about 15 minutes. I managed to put my phone and purse in my pocket so they would fall out as I had no bag with me, in doing so I caught the catch on my watch so that came undone just as the ride was starting, luckily I put it back on before we were fired into oblivion. I love the Aerosmith ride.
I took a slow walk back to the hotel to get the rest of them for some lunch. I got back to the hotel just about 12.45pm, we headed back to the village for lunch, after looking round we decided on Annette’s Diner. I had never eaten here on any of my previous visits as it has always been queued out the door. We were seated straight away. I ordered the Euro Chick burger (chicken burger), fries and a side order of garlic bread, my sister had a cheeseburger and fries, my BIL had the breakfast burger, fries and onion rings, we all had coke to drink, we ordered a small portion of fires for my niece when they arrived it was a massive basket full for her. The food arrived quickly and was hot. The sides were massive; I had 8 pieces of garlic bread that I shared with my sister. Everyone enjoyed their meal and my niece tucked into her friesJ. My BIL was the only one who had room for dessert, he chose the Donut profiteroles and I had another cherry coke. The whole meal came to 72 Euros with my shareholders discount; it was worth it as the meals were lovely and filling.
This would be the only time we got to see the new parade so I went back to the hotel to get the camera whilst the other looked in the shops in the village. I met up with them and we headed to the park. It was 3.40pm and it was starting to fill up but we managed to get a nice spot just in front of Main Street Station. It was very hot sitting in the sun but there was an occasional breeze, which helped, the parade was a little late in starting but it didn’t disappoint, there were plenty of characters to see and the floats looked great. After the parade we took a slow walk up into Frontierland and had a look in the shop. We tried to get my niece the 15th anniversary t-shirt but the smallest size we found was for a 4 year old. I took a few photos of BTMRR and the Mark Twain Boat.
We got my niece an ice cream and some water, whilst she was eating her ice cream we took a walk through to Adventureland, we were going to go on Pirates of the Caribbean but seeing as my niece had just had ice cream we didn’t want to chance it. I wanted to see Candleabration so we headed through Fantasyland and saw some more characters they were mobbed though so we headed back to Main Street to wait. It was still very light but we were standing near the castle so we got to see the 15th sign illuminate and I videoed the show until someone with a kid on his shoulders stood in front of me, by the time the show finished my niece had fallen asleep so we headed back to the hotel. We arrived back at the hotel, I decided I was going to go back in the park on my own and my BIL was going to see if the footie was being shown on TV. I arrived back at the park it was a little quieter so I headed around to BTMRR, I queued for about 40 minutes, I knew if I left it till the next day it would be really long, by the time I got on the ride it was getting dark. I loved riding this in the dark. I got a good shot of it all lit up when I was walking off.
I was going to try the Buzz Lightyear ride next as I had never been on it before. As I was walking back into Main Street they had the Candleabration again but this time it was in the dark and much better, this had not been advertised, had it been I would have waited till the later show. I managed to get a couple of photos of the Castle lit up though.
I would never have got through the crowds to get to Discoveryland so I headed back to the Village to do a bit of shopping. When I got back to the hotel my niece had only just gone to sleep, I told my sister about the Candleabration being shown again, she was disappointed she didn’t get to see it in the dark. After the football had finished we decided to get some sleep, as we would have to be up early to pack before breakfast.
