Hi, all -
As I spent the last two weeks basically avoiding work so that I could read almost every single post on these boards, must make this somewhat (maybe not, though) brief! Just back from 4 nights at CSR - I was there for a conference - with DH, whose English (and somewhat sarcastic) self had never been to WDW...only Eurodisney...which means that I now have a mental comparison of every ride I love at WDW to its "equivalent" (ha) at ED. Whatever - they can keep their big (yes, even bigger than RnRC, which my husband deemed to be "pants" = kinda lame) roller coasters with loops...
We flew Southwest out of Providence, which was fine except that someone at check-in in Providence clearly feels that all "children" under the age of 18 qualify for preboarding...the preboarding line took up about 1/3 of the plane, no joke - and there were couples in the line with 8, 9, 10-year old kids (I know what you'll say, they may have had a medical issue, yadda yadda - but I am telling you - we're talking half the preboarding line with older kids - there is no way they ALL had medical issues!)...anyways, didn't matter that much except that we were impatient to get off the plane at the other end...I'll admit it...
Tiffany - fine - DH got to discuss his favorite issue (dislike of the green card application process) with our driver, who was originally from Mombasa. I stared out the window.
CSR - check-in line super short (about 8:30 pm) - we neither got the king bed room we had paid for, nor did we get a water view - and once we had lugged all our stuff out to our Ranchos room with parking lot view, we were unwilling to lug it back to change rooms, so we ate the extra cost (the woman I spoke to about having the difference credited to my account insisted that I didn't pay more for my room, despite the fact that I had a reservation form stating that the king bed conference room rate was $20 more...annoying, but frankly, neither worth the time or the hassle to sit at the front desk with a surly CM). I'll write the resort manager for a credit and hope for the best...oh, look, a pig, flying by my office window...
Too excited to go to sleep - we headed to DTD to do some shopping (the hubby is a freak for all things Xmas - I'm convinced that this is because the UK lacks the US buffer holiday - Thanksgiving - so he gets excited for Xmas in about July...he went a little crazy in the Xmas shop, as a result...), then to PI for a drink.
So - it was Friday night at PI, which no longer costs extra to walk onto (unless you go into a club). We noticed two things - (1) a few parents who don't feel that their toddler needs to be kept out of cigarette smoke or put into bed before midnight (2) in our early, mid-30's...we were about double the age of the average person walking the Island after dark. Yes, many a young teen caked in eyeliner and/or bravado present at PI...it was downright scary...I miss the old days. We went into the AC, where the average age quickly rose to about 30 - it was pretty crowded, and after a Sam Adams each, we left at about 12:30 to head back to CSR.
