So, last full day of our holiday and 3rd and final day in DLRP - arrived at 10am with a realistic plan ! We split up and the younger ones and I went straight to Small World for a repeat and the others went to BTM where they had a short wait and also picked up 2 FPs !! We picked up FPs for Buzz. Next was Lion King tickets these do sell out fast. Joined the lengthy but fast moving queue at 11:15 and by the time we got to the kiosk all the 12:30pm tickets were gone and had to settle for 2:30pm show. Our FPs for BTM expired at 315pm so it will be tight. Next was the train around the park for once the queue wasnt bad so off we went. The journey itself was grand but it didnt really help with regard to getting your bearings or checking out anything you might have missed you cant see a lot of the park really. Next was hot dogs at Caseys Corner and got a table outside. This was just getting better ! Did the Buzz FPs and were in and out in 15 mins fantastic. Lion King show was next and that was great. Our 6 yr old got a high five from Simba when they came down into the audience and he was thrilled got it on video too ! Got to video most of the show and they have been watching it almost non-stop since. So a quick dash over to BTM and thanks to FPs, in and out in 20 mins. At this stage we were having a ball!!While we were at BTM, the rest were taking up a place to view the 4pm parade and got a kerbside spot right outside Caseys Corner about 30 mins before start time.
The stewards or should I say cast members were very entertaining while trying to sort out the crowd in advance of the parade. Well, I have to say the parade was great. The lads loved it. Thankfully we had a great view and the atmosphere was brill. Our middle lad got a high five from a passing penguin which made his day. The floats, the music, the characters were truly magical and for the first time we were under the Disney spell. This concluded our time in the Park because for the grand finale we had booked Café Mickey for 630pm. I wanted to have a stroll around the village and the lake and take in the balloon (panaramique). But despite it seeming quite calm, the balloon was unable to go up and the staff could not confirm when it would be going up again. Not to worry, went around the corner to the go-karts and the kids had a few spins on these and on the nearby carousel. Couldn't get any volunteers to walk around the lake to check out the hotels so after chilling out on the benches looking out on the lake we headed for Café Mickey.
We hadnt told the boys about the characters but I just hoped that Mickey would be there particularly for our middle boy (aged 4)
Anyway, again thanks to a tip off from here, we had booked well in advance and just as well with people being turned away. We were brought upstairs and had a great window table nice round one with lots of room right in the middle of the glazed area. Perfect ! Great view out over the lake and the balloon. They tried to raise the balloon without any occupants and you could see why it wasnt open - it was swaying all over the place. The menu is not bad at Café Mickey I had the Simbas Special (24) L bone steak with baked potato & onion rings delicious. First decent spud all week !! All the other dishes were good too. Not cheap but this was our last hurrah and who cares. And then it happened. It was like a scene of the credit card adverts. A priceless moment of magic. Mickey appeared in his chef outfit and the 2 boys could not believe it. We were waiting for that magical moment all week and it arrived at last !! You know that look of pure astonishment on your childrens faces. Priceless. And then Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Gepetto, Captain Hook, Mr Smee and Tigger !! Fantastic. Got photos with them all and then the music started and Tigger jumped up on the dividing wall and started dancing with the staff. The place was buzzing. What an end to a brilliant few days. After a slow start, day 3 in DLPR was just wonderful. Made it all worthwhile. Everything went to plan, very little queuing, lots of FPs, good food and then the characters at Café Mickey. No more to be said except something I didnt expect to say time to get planning for the next trip !!!With our APs, we hope to go self catering somewhere in France and get to DLPR for a day or 2. Ideally a gite or house. Time to get surfing again !
