This was our second trip to DW (2003 the other). We now have 4 children (DS11,DS9,DD6,DD1). I had a conference at the Gaylord Palms on the 14th-16th. So, we stayed at AS Music for the 10th-13th, then moved to GP. We got a five day MYW pass. We purchased MYW dining as well.

Trip Comments:
AS Music was a pleasant surprise. We stayed at Caribbean Beach last time. We had 2 adjoining rooms and really enjoyed it. The pools and the decor were nice. I liked the fact that ASM isn't as spread out as CB. There was very little if any noise at night. We stayed in the Rock building.

Food was great for the most part. Our table service restaurants were the Crystal Palace, Boma's and Sci-Fi. Out of pocket, we also had Biergarten and Trails-End Buffet. Our lunches were Flame-Tree, Cosmic Rays (2) and Toy Story Pizza Planet. Crystal Palace was great. DD1 was scared of characters however. Boma's was very good. DW said it was fantastic. All the kids liked it. Sci-Fi was a little disappointing. I thought the food was better last time we ate there. Kids enjoyed it though. We enjoyed Biergarten's atmosphere. We liked the food, but not as much as CP or Boma's. Loved the Black Forest Cake. :) We liked all of the lunch spots. Dining plan was a definite plus. We ate more than we would have otherwise, but we really enjoyed the places and food that we ate and saved quite a bit of money. DS9 can't wait until next time when he can order off the adult menu.

The parks were great. MK was busy on Veteran's day, but not too bad. We never waiting more than 20 minutes and that was only once for Pirates of the Caribbean. The other rides with 45-60 waits (Splash, Space, BT, Buzz), we fast-passed. Contrary to what I have read, our kids like Stich's Great Escape. We were somewhat disappointed with Soarin'. It was nice, but didn't live up to our expectations. We enjoyed the Magic of Disney Animation which was closed the last time we were there. Two rides worth skipping (Enchanted Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise). Not very popular in our group. We enjoyed the Pocantas show at AK. We didn't get to it last time. The woman who plays Pocantas is very good. She was doing autographs and pictures earlier in the day at Rafiki's Planet Watch and she was exceptionally kind and patient with all of the children there. The Motors, Lights stunt show was a big hit with our boys. We were at MGM on Super Soap weekend, but the ride/attractions were not busy. We never waited more than 10 minutes for anything (TT and RRR were fast-passed).

Annoyance: Having two dining cards (because we had 2 rooms) was a pain in the butt. The cashiers and servers hated it too. They've got to change that.

Lesson learned: When in doubt, get a fast pass. We used every one we had and it saved us many hours waiting in line. It was great to learn that CM's accept expired passes. That really gives you flexibility.

I too was at ASMu on your dates. I've never stayed value, and was pleasantly surprised, too! You can't beat the clean rooms for the price, and I think that because the all stars are so huge, the bus service is just better, because of the volume of guests! I think it is actually better when the resort is full, and the parks are busy. They just know they need a lot of buses! Our exit from Epcot on 11/11 after illuminations was the smoothest I've ever experienced, they just had buses waiting and queuing for the next lines to form, a bus would pull right up!
ASMu is not as spread out, as you mentioned. I thought it would be just as spread as CSR which we thought was huge on a prior trip. We were in the Country section at ASMu which is the furthest, and we never felt it was a long walk to the main building. And quiet too! There was a group of HS bands at the resort, and there was no noise. And the resort was completely full. The only criticism I have of the resort, is that the music theme is a little non Disney, weak, except for the Broadway area, which had a lot of Disney Broadway shows in the decorations.
Glad you had a good time, were your rooms adjoining or connecting too?
If they could guarantee connecting, It would be a great choice for families!

Glad to hear you had a good time. We had PS for Boma's but didn't make it due to the massive rain fall that day, and it looks like I'll need to put it on the "must do" food list.

My DD4 loves the Jungle Cruise. =)

We are going in 2 weeks with 4 kids and 2 rooms as well. Did everyone have their own dining card, or were they pooled per room? Thanks in advance -- I am trying to make sure we are covered when we split up!

I'm trying to pack for our trip - leaving on Nov 27th for a week. Trying really hard to figure out what to pack and what I think I'm going to need when I'm there - i.e. if I do leave for the parks in the a.m. and only return at night.

I know the weather may vary by the time I get there but did you leave in the a.m. and only return at night - if so, what did you wear?

We each had our own park ticket (5 altogether). On the park tickets is also the meals. On my card, was the meals for me and DS11 and DS9. On my wife's card was hers and DD6. I just wish they put them all on 1 card.

We left for the parks at around 8:00 AM and returned anywhere from 7 to 9 PM. It was about 80 degrees every day. It was a little cool in the morning, but not enough that anyone asked for a coat or even a long sleeve shirt. At night it was still warm. We did bring raingear, but only brought it to the parks for Kali River Rapids (which came in handy for those who wanted a poncho).

So would you figure I can dress DS4 and DS1 in t-shirt and pants (and bring along a sweatshirt in case it's cold/cooler at night)?

Right now we have snow here, so you see it's hard to remember what we wear when it's mid 70's and mid 50's

Yes, I think that would be fine assuming the weather is similar to when we were there. We left snow and came back to snow (Upstate NY)
