My boyfriend and I (25 years old) are planning to go for our first trip (one week) to disneyworld next May. We were suppose to go this May but plans fell through. I think one of the biggest mistakes we made the first time was booking through a travel agent just because she used to be a neighbour of his from the past. This time around I want to look around. Any suggestions? I would like to book through a travel agent still just to have someone there to answer questions etc. Are there usually any package deals available? I know there are some for value resorts but how about moderates???? Also, are there big savings/differences from different travel agents. We were thinking of looking at this years rates to get a rough estimate for next years.

Any suggestions/advice would be great!!!!

Thanks!!!

Seeing as though 2007 rates will probably not be out until this summer, if you're looking for a rough idea of prices, why not check out disney.com and price packages there?

It seems discounts are less and less lately, I found that 3 and 4 years ago, it was Disney deals and codes everywhere (which is what finally got me to go!), now it's slim, but I'm hooked, I'm going again, with or without a code or discount.

You're probably not going to get a much better deal using a travel agent than what you can get yourself - if you have the time to do so. Personally, I do not have the time to constantly search and watch for codes, so I do book through a TA - I use an online agency - Dream Come True Vac. and there are other good ones out there too - Dreams Unlimited who sponsors these boards and Small World, Mouse for Less, etc... It is handy to have someone else help you out who knows Disney. I don't think I would have known about the Adventurer's Club the first time around, it was mentioned to me by my TA as "Check this out...", plus my TA is also good about calling the restaurants on my behalf in regards to my food allergy. I could do it all myself, but I have zero time to stress over that or hang around in the morning sitting on hold for 30 minutes or an hour to ask for a code to be applied to my reservation.

Have fun and good luck!

For a package deal (they do offer them for moderates as well) the best time to look is about 3-6 months prior because this is when Disney usually releases their specials. Otherwise you can try through CAA or a travel agent. The advantage an agent can offer is they can keep checking back to see if rates have changed and therefore sometimes get you a better deal that you can find alone. Disney is not hard to book on your own though. The DIS boards here offer a lot of good info. Also a book like the Unofficial Guide to WDW can help to answer a lot of questions...
