I am planning a trip to the CBR in July 2006. I would like to get a preferred room. How soon should I book the room. We plan on doing the Disney parks for about 7 days and then the other 2 days we want to go to Sea World and Discovery Cove. Do you think it would be cheaper to stay at CBR for the other 2 days and get a cab back and forth or is there a bus that could take us or would it be better to move to a hotel closer to Sea World/Discovery Cove?

There are a lot of cheaper hotels in the I-Drive area- Sheraton Safari I've heard of as low as $50/night. Can't remember who posted it recently, but that sounds very good. It is supposed to be really cool with a Snake slide, check it out on their website www.starwood.com , then search Orlando area. I think it is pretty close to SeaWorld.

IMHO, for 2 days I would not move. :confused3 too much time wasted. You should check the prices of different limo services for the ride, vs. maybe a rental car for 2 or 3 days vs. cab fare? You might be surprised with what you want to do. A rental car for a few days, is less than you might expect, especially if your only getting it based on people not your luggage too. ;) I also like to do a little shopping or eat a few times "off" property way more economical! :sunny: Take in some of the sights at your own pace, or tour some of the other resorts without switching buses 800 times. ;) And save yourself some time. :hourglass

Yes I-drive is much cheaper, as our kissmimmi, and a few other places, but aside from staying at Universal when we go to Universal I have stayed at some of these places and PREFER the safety and security of WDW or Universal areas. Not to mention the other pluses of staying there if $$$$ possible. :teeth: ::MickeyMo :sunny: . Our last I drive experince was the Holiday Inn (tower) looks nice on outside, ok lobby got to the room and had about 7 locks on the door and about 7 old spots where they used to be? Also told the "fence" to the lot closes at XXX time and no cars let in then for security etc... . "There are camera for your protection" so we started to ask questions and they said "yes, they have had some trouble, and have a very large security staff" "if anything happens, or anyone bothers us, let them know, immediately"........ . Luckily it was for 1 nite, and we haven't been back, I comend them for there efforts, but I don't want to be in that enviorment while on vacation at WDW. Didn't feel comfortable leaving anything in the room, camera's etc.. . Although the room was nice, and good view.

Good luck, MKY princess:

Thanks for the info. I had no idea that they had security problems along I-drive. I think we will definately stay at Disney for the whole stay and explore other transportation options. I have never rented a car before. Do you happen to know if you can arrange to rent a car and have it delivered to a Disney Resort?

I'm not sure about getting a car delievered to a resort? BUT I always use National and they have a desk at the Dolphin Resort. you can pick up a car there (we use disney transportation there buses or even a short taxi ride from cbr) OR they have a larger selection at the magic kingdom car care service plaza but you have to call and the "van" will pick you up. I find getting to the dolphin easier.

I-Drive years ago was a really nice area, the closer to sea world is better. I wish they would fix this there was alot to do down there. shopping, and sight seeing etc.... . We go down for a few hours to check it out, but we won't stay there, anymore.

Check on mousesavers.com. She has ideas and discount codes for the rental cars.
