Trip planning question

Hi everyone,

First of all, I'd like to say thank you for all the great information on these boards. We discovered this site shortly before our last DVC vacation and the tips and info we found were invaluable.

Here's my question: If you visited WDW fairly often and wanted to try different resorts, would you go from Deluxe to a Moderate? We've stayed in an All-Star, Deluxes, and even Fort Wilderness, but never a Moderate. We'd love to stay at the Poly, but thanks to our cash-only vacation policy , and the need for two rooms, that won't be happening for a while. Maybe when the kids are away at college!

So what I'm getting at (at the risk of sounding really snotty), is whether we'd regret going from a Deluxe to a Moderate. Any thoughts?

Aren't the All stars the el cheapo rooms? If you can stand staying there, I'd guess you could stand staying at a moderate. I've never done it, however. I've only stayed at Deluxe or DVC so I can't compare for you.

it's a matter of preference.

we like some of the mod resorts - riverside and Caribbean are our fav mod resorts.

not a fan of CS and don't really like POFQ so we prob wouldn't go there

i know it's not point worthy but since we only take 1 big trip a year (we live in Canada - too far for 3 or 4 day trips) we just stay where we like.

we'll prob never go back to value - too busy, too many problems, too ordinary but that said - it's where we started and it was disney so at the time it was fine for us.

Well, we couldn't stand it, actually. Let's just say that we got "spring-breaked" and transferred over to BCV and the rest is history.

This is really about exploring all the different things WDW has to offer (points aside). We loved our stay at Fort Wilderness (family reunion; grandparents' RV, etc.) and have loved the Deluxes. We'd like to try other Deluxes but can't afford them right now. So why not try a Moderate?

It sounds crazy, but we're trying to figure out if the loss of a washer/dryer and kitchen (and a certain ambience of privilege, as the guidebooks describe the deluxes) will outweigh the fun of trying out a new resort.

Could you elaborate on that a little? If you were a 9-year-old boy, would you prefer OKW or POR?
