Well it looks like I am going to have to cancel my annual DL trip this year :sad2:

I am just not making enough money to pay my bills and for a trip. On top of that having to pay a huge chunk of my moms bills because she can't afford them which is just stressing me out even more. I am living paycheck to paycheck and it's just not feeling good.

This trip is the one thing I look forward to every year and to say I am pretty much 95% sure I have to cancel it is making me cry.

:grouphug:
That is so sad, but you are doing the right thing not to stretch yourself too thin. Think of next year when you will get to see Carsland!!!:wizard:

I am so sorry, maybe you'll have a windfall. God bless you and keep dreaming of your next trip, it will arrive before you know it!

I'm so sorry. That is so disappointing to have to do that. Maybe you'll be able to do it big next year since you're skipping this year! :thumbsup2

That's a drag. Hopefully something will pop up that you'll be able to go.

Yeah i'm hoping sales at work pick up so I'll get some better money going

I hope you get some more sales - keep up the hope. If you have to cancel maybe you can plan to visit in early 2012 so you don't have to wait so long!

I hear you! Normally I get one DL trip a year and then take the kids to WDW for spring break. But with one in college this year, we just really can't afford it. Actually we could, but it would have to be a budget trip and I just don't want to cut things that close. I guess I'm being a mature adult this year (which kinda sucks).

So instead of Florida we are taking our RV down to our lot at Long Beach, WA...rain capital of Washington state!:rotfl2: I'm pretty sure next month I will be sitting in an rv full of kids complaining that there's nothing to do while listening to the rain on the roof and enjoying the lovely 45 degree weather. :lmao:

Oh, Kristin! You mean no Halloween trip?:scared1: You LOVE your Halloween Time trips so much. I hope that something can be worked out - maybe a slightly shorter trip - cut off a couple of days if possible - and only do one party night instead of two?

Otherwise, I wouldn't stress yourself out about it too much this year. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate money-wise, and it's better to recognize early on that it probably won't work out than to get all the way up to a month or two away, only to see that it won't happen.

I can only imagine that 2012 will be a bigger and better Halloween time celebration because the majority of the work in DCA will be done. So possibly DCA will have some traces of Halloween stuff once again. Who knows? Maybe by then there will even be a full-throttle Halloween parade during the party in DL and not just a cavalcade. I think once the construction is mostly wrapped up, DLR will go back to making a bigger deal of Halloween Time in both parks.

Oh, and also - I totally understand having to miss a DLR trip. I've had to do that for several years at a time in my life (1996-1999 and 2002-2006) for money reasons and it was rough!

I'm going to do everything i can to make more money so I can go. I really don't want to cancel until it's 100% sure that I can't make it work.

Huge Hugs to you!!!

I soooo kwym! We are big fans too and have had to put visits on hold recently. In fact, if you dig deep enough on the disneyland community board you'll see a thread by me about wishing I'd never heard of dlr. It' so painful to not go!

Here's to thinking $$$ thoughts for you!!!!

:sad1: Awwww Im so sorry. But you are doing the right thing. I believe in karma, and something good will come your way in the end. Just think of all the fun stuff you will get to see when you do go back? The Little Mermaid, Star Tours, Cars Land (Hopefully). Who knows there might even be new parades or firework shows. All that put together, and its like you are going to Disneyland for the very first time. So many new things to see.

I SO feel your pain. I have been very blessed that we usually go one or two times a year and my mom and I just took my girls to DW this past November and then my dh and I "attempted" to take my girls to DL for xmas but we got into that awful rain and it was really a wash (literally) LOL. My mom and I usually take the girls at least once a year on a summer trip to celebrate getting out of school and summer break and it is usually DL but this year my dh wanted to do a "do-over" of our xmas trip since it was so awful and we had a few days at the beach planned and then 4 days at DL the day after the kids got out of school.

Then things started getting ugly. My dh has been getting laid off from his job left and right (gets laid off for 2 or 3 days, goes back and then gets laid off again) and now he is laid off indef and even though our June trip was paid for we NEED that money and with gas going up to prob 5 bucks a gallon and then still having to pay for food etc I had to bite the bullet and get my money back. You have NO idea how much that hurt. I have been hemming and hawing about it for a week or so trying to convince myself that we still NEEDED this trip because things were so depressing but reality has set in and needing to "eat" has become more important than getting a vacation.

So VERY regrettably I cancelled and you have NO idea how upset I am. Sure it is just a trip and we have been MANY times but at this point it is a much needed break from reality and I am more upset about THAT than anything else. So I totally know where you are coming from!!

Life is so dismal with the economy and bills piling up that sometimes you just need to get away and reset and repress.

At this point I don't know WHEN I will be getting back. The reason we had chosen THAT particular week is because for the first time in 3 years we all had AP's but my girls will expire that week and so will mine and based on our finances I doubt we will be renewing either.

I hope you are able to work something out so that you can go and I hope that we are able to find a way to go sometime soon as well.

It's good that you are being smart about it. If it doesn't happen this year, then plan for next. Sometimes it isn't so much about making more money, it is more about spending less. I try to see what I can cut down on for monthly bills, and that helps a lot. For example, I have a very basic phone--it works fine. My husband offered to get me an iphone, and I said no--because the one I have still works...just no bells and whistles. We have basic cable, and cut out lots of other things in the last year--including health club. I would rather just walk outside anyway! I ask myself if I really need something before I buy it--and that helps. Making lots of little changes like this can add up!

YOu are smart to skip the trip and take care of finances, so many refuse to face the facts and get in debt. DLR will still be there next year, plan an inexpensive get away, maybe a weekend away, camping, etc. It's sad, but most of us have been there, at least those of us that watch our budget and don't want to get into debt. I feel your pain but you are doing the right thing!

I am with the poster above. So smart to keep everything in order. People are silly when it comes to finances. There are many at Christmas time who are spending wads of cash when they are still paying off from the previous Christmas. So best to keep yourself in order and dont stress yourself. When you need a fix, come back to these boards and talk things out and plan your over due vacation for next year. We will all be happy to keep you up to date on things.

I don't even have credit cards :) So I only spend what money I have. Disneyland is always pre-saved for. Which is why it still has a small posibility of happening

It's going to be tough for us for our upcoming trip this month. We owe quite a bit for taxes that have to be paid next month.

((Big hugs))
I feel your pain! We had to cancel our Christmas and now, our trip in April when our triplets will turn 9! I have been pouting for months, I HATE having to be a grown up when it comes to Disneyland! :lmao: I am saving every penny so we can make even a day trip this year! Good luck, sweetie. Like Walt himself has said 'If you can dream it, you can do it'! Have you checked out the part of the boards here called disney rewards? You might find a few things there to help make a few extra $$. :thumbsup2
