My family will be sailing on a four-day Disney cruise on 9/3, then heading to SSR for nine days afterwards, staying on DVC points. We'll be renting a car for at least one day. We'll be flying. What is the best travel insurance company to go with? I'm confused about whether the companies will cover both points and cash. I'm confused about travel insurance, period. I want something that will provide for medical costs while we're out of the country, too. Help? It's appreciated.

Check out insuremytrip.com --- use the dollar amount of your entire trip. Points convert to a dollar amount. I suggest giving a few of the companies a call to answer your questions. We used TravelGuard and submitted a claim for cancelled flights on a Mexico trip last year, great service.

Read the fine print carefully --- some "delays" kick in after 5 hours, others after 11 hours --- a huge difference.

We bought insurance twice directly through Travel Guard for our cruises. The second time we had to collect, unfortunately. Even though we did not buy the DVC policy, they did reimburse us cash for nights we stayed at BCV using our points instead of cash (it was a complicated claim resulting from postponement and ultimate inability to take a DCL cruise due to Hurricane Francis). We were treated very well by TravelGuard and their reimbursement was very fair and really quite fast.
