Check out Insure My Trip website. Clark Howard says it should cost about 5% of trip price.

Hello. I know that I am pulling up an old thread. I am trying to find a travel insurance company that will cover DVC points that I would rent from an owner and have not been successful yet though I have called several of the highly rated ones. Does anyone know of a travel company that will cover rented DVC points? Thanks!

I bought trip insurance throught *****************
Rented points last October for an upcoming trip the end of this month.
Because we were 10 months out and many things can happen (elderly parents
at home main concern) I felt the need to protect this investment as much as possible. Did my homework in advance and found out that with the plan I was going with (could be for all) that the insurance needs to be bought within 10 days of initial depost/payment. For our needs, we also wanted the cancel for any reason option as well. We bought the policy and since we did not have our airfare yet, we had to get an additional policy to cover that as well. If you give "Insure My Trip" (located in my home state) a call and tell them your needs and concerns, I'm sure you can find what you may be looking for.
For us, piece of mind is everything.
