Has anyone here ever made a claim on your trip insurance?

I have never purchased it before, and am trying to convince myself I should but I'm having a hard time doing that.

Any insight?

I booked a trip to Hong Kong several years ago, then got the flu and had to delay the trip. Sure was happy I had the insurance to pick up all the cancellation fees!

My parents used it for a different cruise line. 2 days before they were supposed to leave, my grandmother passed away and they of course had to cancel. They got back all the money for the cruise and the airfare.

In the past 10 years I have used the travel ins twice. 1st time with Disney travel on a WDW vacation and then with another cruise line. It was worth every penny.

I know someone who had a stroke on a cruise and had to go to hospital, have relatives flown out, and then be flown back, so its best to be prepared.

I've mentioned before that our DD-in-law's mother was hosptialized 2 nights before a 12 member family cruise/vacation to Europe. We had bought the cruise insurance and air from Princess Cruise Line and we were refunded the close to $10,000 that we paid for DS and DD-in-law's fare. We will always buy cruise insurance.

All is well now, 8 years later.

PS. They were supposed to be in the cabin next to us, and on our first night out, we noticed a room steward bringing chocolate covered strawberries to the occupants next door. Sure enough, those were intended for the newly weds. Princess even gave us credit for the little things like that that we had arranged for them.

this past summer i debated about getting trip insurance thinking i'd save some money. our trip was going to be for 17 days and i started to think what if something did go wrong so i purchased insurance through insuremytrip.com. so glad i did as something did go very wrong. my daughter ended up with a major ear problem 4 days into our vacation. we visited the ER once , a medical care facility once, had to buy 5 prescriptions, and paid a visit to the ships doctor. everything had to be paid up front. when we got home i filed a claim for all the money i spent and within 3 weeks i was totally re-imbursed for all that i had paid out.

Has anyone used trip insurance for the 9/4 cruise? We got trip insurance through AAA and they said that since Disney refunded part of the fare we weren't entitled to anything.

I used our DCL purchased trip insurance when my family got the Norwalk virus on our 1/03 cruise. It was easy to do, and we were refunded everything we asked (the number of pro-rated days we were confined to the cabin). It was well worth the money for the peace of mind.

We used it when we were late arriving on boards and our bags did not arrive until St. Maarten. We are being reiumbursed for what we had to purchase in the interim. We basically got all our souveniers that way.

I would get it. You are traveling during hurrican season and with this season still in full affect it should scare you into getting it. I have never used it, but will always get it. I would rather not need it and have it instead of not having it and needing it.

We were scheduled for the 9/4 cruise too & even though we had bought our trip insurance [thru Travelex], there was no need to file a claim b/c aAll carriers refunded 100% of our fares - Disney & US Air. Even Travelex refunded our premium of $130 b/c the policy never went into effect.

I just rebooked our cruise to the 7-day East. on 11/27 & I already insured it - again w/ Travelex.

You will only be "entitled" to $$ back when you file a claim for anything covered under the policy you purchased.

I hope this helped!
