Hello Everybody, first post:

I'm a single father of a 7 year old son whom I took to disney for the first time in August 2006 for the week. He loved it so much that he can't wait to go again so I saw the great rates for February and I booked for 2 weeks. I know that the weather isn't as hot, but is it still a nice time to go with the smaller crowds and is the weather ok?

Thanks for any help you can give.

:welcome:

Hi. While I have not been in February I just opened my unofficial guide book. It states that the first week in Feb. as a slow period and late Feb. as "dicey". It mentions that crowds ebb and flow according to spring break and the timing of Pres. Day weekend.

As for Feb. weather my book shows average lows of 50 and highs of 73, .8 in. of rain per month and 7 days of rain in Feb.

Hope that this helps a little. I'm sure you'll get firsthand knowledge from people that have been there in Feb.

lord......welcome! We took our kids in February last year and are going to be there again this year. It was Presidents week. Everybody says stay away, but I have never been at off peak so I cant compare the crowds. All I know is that if you use FastPass the right way and plan your day, you will be ok as far as crowds go. We waited about 45 mins for the Kilamanjaro(sp) safari and that was the longest wait we had. We hit every big attraction so I didnt think the wait was that awful. Crowds were managable at that time. weather was iffy, no rain, but cool at night. Sweatshirt or light jacket is advised. Kids went swimming even though it was too cold for me and my wife (temps were high 70's), but nontheless they used the pools. By the way, Typhoon lagoon will be closed at that time. Blizzard Beach will be open but if you go to a waterpark go early! We had a blast while there and Im sure you will too. I would suggest you make dining ressies early (like yesterday) as restaurants fill up quickly and it might be darn near impossible to get a walk-up at that time. A little planning will go a long way. Good luck and update us after your trip!

Hi! My family has taken our last 3 trips in Februay or early March and each time the weather has been different. First year was cool when we arrived and hot by the time we left (in the upper 80's). Second year was mild but then was FREEZING by the end of our stay. We literally had to buy some warm swetshirts from the hotel gift shop! This past February was really nice - mild temps all week with cool temps at night. Sweaer weather for those of us from the south! :teeth: We're going in 07 Valentines Day week. Be aware that the following week is Mardi Gras, so there will be lots of other Louisiana folks arriving around that time as well. I didn't think it was too bad last year. I always find the crowds manageable that time of year - not bad for what is considered Peak Season. Have a great time!!!

I, myself, go at different times of the year...but, I also take my adult children, husband, and grandchildren (along with my sister and her husband this year) every February. My grandchildren get off from school during that time...Last year, we all went to Blizzard beach...(yes...do go early)...The February before that, it was a bit chilly...You just never know...This year, they will be offering the Pirates and Princess Party..(which 9 of us are going)...I bet your son would love that... pirate:

15 years ago I went in Feb during the time of value to peak, it was a split time. You will see prices go up for food items at least that's what I remember. The crowds will increase but not by a lot. It's a rather slow start unless you are there when the majority of the country has it's break. For the most part schools stager their Feb break because it tends not to be the official "spring break" for most schools.

When we went all those years ago the weather was great. We wore shorts all day and maybe had to put a sweater on at night. I still believe Jan and Feb are the best months to go. Early Feb is great.

Don't worry, you'll have a great time, especially with it being just the two of you. I was a single mom at the time and it was great with just 2 going!

The first week of Feb is our favorite time to go, and the 2nd week isn't too bad either. But, the rest of the month gets pretty busy. The weather is usually chilly in the mornings and evening, but nice during the days. I prefer the weather in Feb. much more compared to the heat and humidity. We have also been lucky with the fact it hardly rained at all the times that we have visited in Feb.

We went last February during Presidents week and were very lucky with the weather (low 80's and sunny). The week prior to us arriving was cold and rainy. Unfornuately, the weather in February is hit or miss.

Are crowds really horrendous during Prisidents' week? We are going during our February school vacation, from 2/18/2007 until 2/24/07. We were there this past June and the heat really knocked us out! My poor ds just wilted after 2 hours in the park. Also, Mardi Gras is happening that same week; how does that impact crowds and are there special things going on? I am so excited to be escaping New England winter for a week, although it was close to 70 today!
