TRIP in 16 DAYS....DD SICK...

WDW isn't going away and even if she is feeling better, her resistance will be low and you are exposing her to every disease known to man at WDW, the melting pot of bacteria and viruses.
:earsboy: Bill

That is a VERY GOOD point. I think you have hit the nail on the head.

My oldest son got Epstein Bar (sp??) in 2nd grade. What I will tell you is just to allow your child to set the pace. My son was just tired....it lasted a good 3-4 months but, he was able to function.

I had mono twice -- yes twice, it's possible. The first as a kid and I was out of school in bed sleeping 20 hours a day for a month straight. The second time as an adult and didn't have that luxury but I dragged my butt through the day and slept every minute otherwise and 22 hours on weekends for about 6 weeks.

However, I think once it was diagnosed and I was on meds, I was ok pretty quickly (by that I mean at least a couple of weeks). I'd think that 16 days would be enough for her to be ok.

Ultimately, I'd still go. If possible, I'd ask the doc for a few scripts of meds to take with you, just in case someone else gets it. People have done it for much less. My 5 yr old got strep throat and scarlet fever about a week before we went away. I had no intention of cancelling, but that's me. He's a trooper and the doc said he would not be contagious after 24 hours on meds.

Ah see I think the opposite. The best time to be around bacteria and viruses is when you're on a medicine that fights all that for you.

OP, what did you end up doing?

We actually got to go and had an awesome time! My DD was cleared by her doctor about 10 days before the trip. (When I wrote the first post, dd was already well into the mono and was good after a week.) The doc said that kids bounce back faster from mono than teens and adults, and we found that to be true. She was able to complete the last three days of school and and still had a week to rest up before vacation. The only impact we could tell on the trip was that she couldn't stay up late, but we were still able to do most of our touring and logged between 6 to 9 miles a day on the pedometer. I was most concerned with exposing her to other things at Disney, but the pediatrician repeatedly told me that I was being overprotective...so we went. I think we really had a best case scenario regarding the mono. Thanks to all Diser's who gave their input! :goodvibes Thankfully, it worked out for us! :cool1:

I'm glad to hear that your daughter recovered quickly and you were able to enjoy your trip!
