We're traveling to Disney World in January wiith our entire extended family, and I'm making goodie bags to give all the kids on the morning we leave. The idea is to give them some fun and interesting things for their trip....and to keep them busy on the plane.

All the little kids were no problem. I've got coloring books, crayons, stickers, Disney books, a few small toys, etc.

I'm totally stuck on my just barely turned 13 year old nephew, though. My son is 5...so I'm not sure what 13 year olds are into. I don't want to offend him by giving him anything to babyish...but I don't want him to feel left out of the fun either. Any ideas?

Is he starting to enjoy the freedom of being able to give input into the vacation and maybe even the opportunity to go do things on his own?

The reason I guess I'm asking is that I would possibly consider a touring book for instance something like Tim Fosters book Guide to the Magic. Or Maybe even the Hidden Mickeys book from Steve Barrett. Some sort of book that would be interactive and maybe even help him plan what he will want to see/do once he is in the World.

if that's not the route to go, does he have a video game system or portable DVD player that he will be bringing along? You could get a movie or game for him. Personally I like the books idea as it would exercise his mind as opposed to turning him into a mindless 13 year old like most :headache: :scared1:

Hope you find something and I like your idea.

Our DS is 13 and he would like:
gum
sports magazines (ESPN, Sports Illustrated, tennis)
snacks/candy with Disney theme (like gummies)
deck of cards
sudoku/crossword/wordsearch puzzles
disposable camera

My DS has been to WDW quite a few times and I don't think he'd be interested in a guide book - would likely get a "what is that for? I know where everything is already!". But if nephew hasn't been before (sorry can't remember if you said or not) then it might be a really good idea - teens don't always like the unknown and also might have a better time being able to offer their opinions on what to do

Have a great time! :earsboy:

Thanks for the great ideas! He's never been before, so a guidebook might be a cool thing. I bet he'd enjoy the Hidden Mickey book.

He has an iphone and he uses that for music, games, videos, etc....so he's pretty set there, I think.

Lots of other great ideas, too. Thanks, everyone!

We went with DS13 in Sept and he really enjoyed the pressed pennies, I packed a ziploc bag with quarters and pennies so he could scout out those machines. The gum/candy/sunglasses/disposable camera/guidebook ideas are great too. DS10 loves pins, so he did some pin trading, but that's a bit more expensive!!
