OK, I went today and got prices for an all inclusive Disney trip. Here is what I got..

2 Adults, 2 Youth

7 Nights at Pop Century Resort
4 Magic Plus 6 Day Hopper Passes
3 Meals a day for all days
4 Round Trip Airline Tickets (Direct flights)

Total price is $3445

Do you think I can do better? Or is this a good price. Keep in mind, I have NEVER been to WDW and I have NO idea how much things cost.

That seems a bit high to me. What I would do if I were you is to check all the prices separately first---airfare, tickets, hotel, and food. I do think the new food plan seems reasonably priced IF you usually eat all of your meals in the parks.

Airfare will be the area where the price can really vary. I have found the best deals on the carriers' own webite.

Good luck!!! I hope you have a wonderful trip!!!!

That does seem high, I always find it ALOT cheaper to book everything seperately, take the time and keep checking airfare until it's really cheap, same with the hotel, use a code ! Good Luck planning !!

If you go to www.mousesavers.com there will be a list of current discount codes for rooms. And AAA offers a slight discount to its members.

Where would you be flying out of? And when? I ran a Jun 23-Jun 30 fare to see what American Airlines offered out of Philadelphia, and it was around $198 per ticket.

Also, you mentioned 3 meals per day? Is that the higher priced meal plan? Because the 2 meal per day + snack plan is $35 per day per adult and less than that for kids.

Happy Planning!! :)

I priced out one of Delta's "vacation plan" packages with airfare, hotel and car rental... the price still seemed high. When I had the rep break down the prices individually, the air was very reasonable, the hotel was "okay" nothing significantly cheaper... but the rental car was outrageous! She said for 1 week, a full sized car was running $340! I told her I could get a minivan for that! Full sized cars only run about $165-$180 a week directly through rental car companies. Geeesh....

So, the point is, try to piece meal everything together "a la carte" and see if you can come out better being your OWN travel agent.

Sept 16th flying out of either Dulles or BWI and flying back on the 23rd.

2 meal per day + snack is what the AAA agent quoted us. But where would I find that on my own? I am NOT good at trip planning, I HATE trip planning, but I want to do this cheaper then what I was quoted.

Here's what I came up with:

tickets from Delta.com (out of either Dulles or BWI) $188 x 4 = $752
7 nights Pop Century with AAA discount = $70 x 7 = $490 (value season)
Magic Your Way Plus Tickets = $250 x 4 = $1000
Dining plan $35 x 4 people x 7 nites = $1080

Total of $3322

which means that quote is not as high as I thought!! But, $140 per day for dining could be done much cheaper, if you need to bring price down. When I read your first post, I was thinking of price for 2 adults and 2 children. But in the eyes of Disney, you are all adults!

You could easily cut the meal price in 1/2 by dropping the meal package and making frugal choices (counter service; sharing meals; bringing snacks, etc)

You might be able to get a better deal on airfare, but I don't know what the norm is from Dulles.

Good luck to you!!!

Thank you for that break down, I really REALLY hate trip planning. And that perspective shows that it isn't THAT far off. My kids eat ALOT, and very often, so whatever meal stuff we get, they will use ::yes:: And I am terrified that we are going to get there and not have enough money because the 2 piggies are going :rotfl:

Thanks for all that research. I am still trying to weigh all my options, I do have the time, so I may as well take the time and research this properly.

You might be able to shave a bit of the cost of the tickets by foregoing the Hopping and/or No Expiration option. We did this recently and it worked out fine.

Not doing the no expiration, but we are doing the hopping. I want to have the freedom of coming and going to wherever I want the entire day. ::yes::

I agree 100% with the hopper pass, they are worth the little extra I think. I don't know how many times we have gone to one park during the day & another at night - esp. since Animal Kingdom closes earlier than the other parks.

I agree with others though on the dining. We went 5 years ago & had the dining pkg., it was called something different, anyway, I was 7 monthes pregnant, Dh & 2 y/o DS (no chg.). Even with me being pregnant & DS meals being added to our meal plan, we had money leftover when we left WDW that just went unused. If you think your kids will eat that much, then go for it, but you might could come out a little cheaper without it. The portions they serve are large. Some places, 1 meal is enough to split. I think 2 sit down meals a day is a lot of food & time. It would be nice in one aspect to just be able to go & not have to worry about meals, having them already taken care of and if you are planning on doing any buffets - well, they are expensive. Sorry, I haven't been much help at all. Go to www.allearsnet.com there you can look at menues of all the restaurants in WDW. Happy Planning (you say that you don't like planning but you will be a pro & obsessed in no time :) )

Yeah, that's high. We paid just a little less than this for a week at Wilderness Lodge (courtyard view rooms); however, we live close enough to drive so we didn't have the expense of airfare.

We have an all inclusive booked for $4500 that includes:

Airfare for 4 (from AZ, big $$)
Rental car
1 night, room only at POP
7 nights, AKL savannah view
4 X 7 day MYW tickets with park hopper option (we will use this one!): 2 adults and 2 kids (6 and 3)
MYW dining package (again 2 adults, 2 kids)

I am a AAA member and booked the package thru them.

So, I would say, your quote is high, especially considering the price difference between a value and an deluxe.

That you cannot get the meal plan of $35 per day if you book separately. I think the original quote you got that included all meals and airfare was a very good price. You have two jr.'s with you, so that is actually like four adults in doing the Mickey Math.

I would go for it.

Looking at the prices in the break out I'd say the only place to save comes down to the dining plan...and if you assign the price differential ($123) to the dining plan it becomes about $40 a day or $160 for the four of you. So you COULD do the parts of the package yourself and drop the dining plan. You could then share food etc etc etc...but if I were you I wouldn't. This is your first time to Disney. If you can afford to do it this way go for it. It is a great opportunity to try out some expensive restaurants that you might choose to pass up on another trip. And you could do it for two meals a day not just one.

In fact I'd go one further and ask for a quote on a moderate resort like Port Orleans French Quarter. You'll get a much wider selection of dining, boats to downtown disney and all the amenities you would expect from a hotel. Or if you will get to Disney any time before 3pm I'd consider getting the 7-day hopper the cost differential is pretty small...on the order of $3 per person.

PS. You'll want to keep the hopping going in Sept. The parks close early so you would need to make liberal use of the Extra Magic Hours.

With those meal plans, my AAA rep said that we can trade in 2 meal vouchers for a dinner theater, so we can make use of those dinner plans :teeth:

seems everyone includes a rental car? Doesn"t disney include transpo from the airport and on property with there packages? If you wanted a car couldn't you just rent for the day? :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

The free transportation doesn't begin until May 5. Some people have trips planned before that date.

Also, there are those who like the freedom of having a car at their disposal for offsite trips (like Sea World, USF/IOA, restaurants and outlet shopping). They also like the convenience of not waiting for Disney's transportation or crowding onto a bus, standing when you're tired or getting up close and personal with a sweaty stranger.

Then there's the lack of a grocery stop when using the WDW service. It's a straight shot from airport to resort.

If you're looking for the cheapest way to get from Point A to Point B, you certainly cannot beat "free", but there is a tradeoff in convenience for that great price.

I would check the package price from Disney - I was a book everything separate person - but found my package price for this year cheaper than booking separately. I am booking my air separately, since that is always a gamble! I have 5 people (2 rooms) at ASM, 6 day Park Hoppers, for $2225, so your price does not seem bad to me!
