We are planning a trip to WDW Dec. 30 - Jan. 9, 2013. I would like to know if this is a good time to be camping as we have never camped in WDW. How are the crowds? I am assuming Dec. 30 & 31 will be crowded but what about Jan. 1 - 9. Also what is the weather usually like at this time? Or am I crazy to be even thinking about camping at this time of year. We do have a hybrid travel trailer. Thanks for any info.

You aren't crazy for doing Disney/Fort in Dec. It's a awesome time to go. Yes it will be crowd'd some of the time, but tit's worth it.
The weather can be kinds hard to gage in Dec. you'll wanna pack for cool/cold and warm weather. Ya'll are gonna hava GREAT time !!:woohoo:

Out of 13 years going at this time, 11 were beautiful, 1 year out of 2 weeks we had 2 nice days and last year we had 4 nice days and chilly to freezing the rest. But, we had a great time every time.

Oh and every year it was a little busier.

we went last year from Dec 26 to Jan 2, and already have reservations for the Dec 31 to Jan 7 for this year
I enjoyed it, we had one cold night it was 24 degrees. But I live in Western Md and it was below zero there that night.
It was 77 degrees on New Years Day. We attended the Capital One Bowl
(ROLL TIDE)
Most mid-days I was able to sit out side and relax at the camp ground.

We only went to MGM studios on one day to see the decorations. It was crowded but managable.

hope this helps SamBuster (steve)

We go every year from mid December to early January. Most years the weather is great. Last year it was COLD. Any time is a good time to go to Disney.

It's Disney camping...of course you'll have a great time. We've camped over the holiday season before and always had a great time. You can manage the crowds with a little planning. Plan on being at a park for the rope drop and you can hit most of the rides you want before the park gets too busy. I would hope that the crowds will drop off a little after the 3rd of January. Most people have to get back to school. You can also plan for other activities unrelated to the Parks...miniature golf, exploring the campground, exploring the resorts will all the wonderful Christmas decorations.

Pack for cold and warm days. We mostly pack clothes that can be layered and long pants. We always throw in a couple of pairs of shorts because it can be warm during the day with lots of sunshine.

You should have a great trip!

Thanks for all the replies. I am feeling better about our decision to camp in Dec/Jan. We are from Wisconsin and deal with some cold/freezing weather, so going to Florida should be better than being home.

Our other options were second week in March (although I would love to attend the Flower and Garden Festival) or second week in June. We don't like crowds to much and wouldn't like the heat and humidity. We did go in October last year and that was plenty warm for us, it was also more crowded than I would have liked it to be, but we had a good time. We normally would go in February, which in my opinion is the best time to go, low crowds and weather is good. We are unable to go at this time as our daughter will be in College then.

Thanks again for the replies. :thumbsup2
