TRIP CANCELLATION AND DISNEY TRAVEL INSURANCE

Just found out I have to cancel our vacation for medical reasons and was wondering if anyone has any experience using the trip cancellation insurance through Disney? We do have this insurance and I did call. The person I spoke to was going to send me the forms and also told me to CXL the trip, however when I read the flyer r/t the insurance it stated that coverage ends "with cancellation of covered trip covered by the plan"

I plan to call them again to clarify but thought I would reach out to folks on the DIS to see if anyone has had to use the insurance and to gain some insight before I call them again.

This just means that your insurance will not be usable again once you make a claim on it. In essence it serves it purpose of covering you for the trip cancellation expenses, but nothing else. Legal speak...

Hypothetically if you made a claim, was paid and found that you could take a quick round of physio, and you were then good to go as planned, the coverage would not cover the rebooked trip, insurance was already used, and it is then cancelled.

You should have little difficulties if the reason for cancellation is on the covered listing.

So sorry that you have to cancel. Hope things get better soon!

We had to use the Trip Insurance several years ago due to the wife's job. Our entire trip was rescheduled from the first week of April to the first week of July without a problem. Disney Hotel room, character meals, everything was rescheduled. We always use the Trip Insurance on all our trips

Basically what they mean is by cancelling your trip for that period and claiming on your insurance means you will need new insurance for the new dates if you have another trip at a later stage

Thanks folks for your responses. Unfortunately, we can not reschedule so are going through the process to try an obtain a refund.
