Came to around 6:40 a.m. The humidity was back with rain in the forecast. The high ended up being 91.
Today was going to be an EPCOT day. I arrived just after it opened and made several phone calls from inside the park to my brother and a friend. I wanted to send them both some pixie dust through the phone lines. Then I went over to the Test Track and rode it twice with no wait either time. I left there and was snapping pictures of the flower exhibits at every turn.
I went through the building near the fountain that had all the vendors and found what turned out to be my favorite souvenir of this trip a doormat with the EPCOT Flower and Garden Logo on it.
By now it was nearly 11 a.m. so I went to see the butterfly release. Pretty little things but they seemed reluctant to leave the box they were in. Then it was back to watch the fountain for a while. I ended up at The Land and saw Food Rocks, another first time event for me. I also ate lunch while I was there.
I left shortly after that to rest and to see if I could get rid of my first bad sinus headache of the trip.
Rest helped a lot and several hours later I returned to EPCOT hoping to photo the World Showcase flowers. Mother nature had different ideas. I watched the band in Mexico and noted that the sky was getting darker and darker. By the time I made it to Germany, I could hear thunder and by the USA it was pouring.
A 1/2 hour wait brought no changes so , donning my poncho, I headed toward the exit. Traveling was easy, as most had taken shelter in attractions or restaurants. I was back at the hotel by 7:30, got supper to go and watched 2 hours of Star Trek. Off to dream land around 10:30.
High Points: TT times 2 with no wait. The butterfly release. The stuffed Mexican potato I had for lunch at The Land. The sunset at CSR.
Low Points: The 2+ hours of rain. These #@*% bug bites!
Weird Points: Watching some Cast Members catch the butterflies to release them later. The sprinkler display at EPCOT.
Best Point: The EPCOT Flower and Garden door mat I bought!
Photos from 5/13 and 5/14.
