Tried to get AP rate - they wouldn't let me!

Per advice from fellow DISers, I tried to book a room only with the AP passholder rate and they wouldn't let me! Then I said I would happily buy the AP BEFORE I got onsite but online it shows that you buy it and the date starts from DATE OF PURCHASE (nothing about a voucher that I've heard about). And I don't want it to start until I check in - in MAY!

Disney rep says to book at another rate and apply the AP discount when I arrive. But I point out that the AP discount must be BOOKED by Feb 8th. He says he sees my problem. THAT WAS IT. I've never had such an unhelpful person at Disney.

Can someone please tell me what I am supposed to do? THANK YOU!

I would call back. If you get the same answer, ask to speak with Guest Services and they should be able to help you. We've never had APs, but are planning on getting them for our July trip. I plan on having the AP rate applied if/when there is a discount for our dates as I, too, have read you can book an AP room without having a current AP. As long as you show a valid AP within 24 hours of check in, you're good. Good luck :wizard:.

Thanks, I will try!

I just booked our room with an AP rate tonight. We had AP's from Apr. 2010-2011, but didn't renew. I just looked up the AP discount code which is A7B. Maybe the CM you had didn't know the code???

We will buy MYW tickets through UCT then upgrade when we arrive. We did this previously with no issue. You just had bad luck with the CM that happened to answer your call.

"As long as you show a valid AP within 24 hours of check in, you're good."

Is this true? You mean I don't have to go to the park to exchange my Undercover Tourist voucher before I check in this summer? Can I go from the airport to the hotel and check in and then later that evening show them my new AP? TIA

We were allowed to do this in April 2010 when we upgraded to an AP. We checked in at the CR and then brought back the AP after going in to MK that day and then upgrading our tickets.

I just booked a split stay (3 rooms for 4 nights at BC, 2 rooms for 3 nights at Contemporary) using an Annual Pass discount; however, I do not intend to purchase my annual pass until I arrive at the Beach Club for the first leg of my trip. The Disney rep told me to go to the concierge when I arrive at the BC and buy my Annual Pass right before checking in. Good luck- it really is a great deal (can book 3 discounted rooms with 1 AP!)

When did this change? It used to be 2 rooms per AP, then they changed it to 1 room per AP. We didn't renew our AP's last year so I'm a little behind on the AP updates.

Oh, I would love it if they changed it to 3 rooms!

Well, I decided just to book using the 'spring room only' discount online. I know I'm paying about $8 more a night but it's actually on work's tab. Heck, I already saved them $170 per night by not staying at the recommended hotel! I'll get my AP when I get there and that will be that!

Thanks everyone!

I've been an AP holder off and on for years. Currently, an adult in each room must have a valid AP. The "up to 3 rooms" on one AP was discontinued a few years ago.

I see you resolved you on-property or off-property question . . .Hope you have a great trip and light traffic!

Call back and talk to someone else, I've had an AP for years and have learned reservation CM's can sometimes be sketchy on the details for AP stuff. I had one tell me a few years ago I couldn't book AP rate because I had an FL res seasonal pass. Maybe its because I'm not confrontational, but I find it easier to politely end the call and call back than try arguing with them.

The reservationist CM can't be right. The quota of annual pass rate rooms could be exhausted when you arrive.

I was told that your annual pass does NOT ACTIVATED TILL YOU SWIPE IT! I just bought ours and had them shipped but I don't want them to be active till July when we go for our honeymoon. So mine will be shipped by Feb 9th but will be active July 2012- July 2013

I got this answer from two separate CMs yesterday and one as a confirmation today. You can book 3 rooms with one AP.

Terms and conditions:
The number of rooms allocated for this offer is limited. Minimum length of stay requirements may apply for Friday or Saturday arrivals. Savings based on the non-discounted price for the same room. Additional per adult charges apply if more than two adults per room. No group rates or other discounts apply. Passholders may book up to 3 rooms per adult Annual Pass or an Annual Pass Exchange Voucher, but a valid Annual Pass must be presented at check-in to qualify.

That will be great! Glad you have it in writing.

Looks like you're going to DL too. Have you done the math to see if getting a premier passport good at both DL & WDW would work for you? It is $221 more than an AP.

I did resolve it :thumbsup2 I'm happy too :cool1:

If there are rates coming out for this summer, I WILL be pushy for that vacation! The spring rate was only a difference of $8 and I wasn't going to fight it when I just expense it for work anyway.

Seems we again have CMs that give different information!

I know, crazy right???

OOOHHHHH!!! This could get interesting if they offer an AP rate during my summer vacation with my family. Of course, when I call, they'll ask me what's an AP :lmao:

I did look at that but we'll only be at DL for 2 days. That pass is less than $200 per person so it doesn't really help me at DL. Unless there are other discounts I'm not taking into account???

I've never had a premier pass but will be buying one this summer for my first trip to DL and likely at least 2 (maybe 3) trips to WDW on the same pass. As I read it the premier gives you all the benefits of a premium AP so 20% merchandise discount at WDW and gives entrance into water parks and Disney Quest. I guess I too need to read what discounts the AP gets at DL.

From what I read on allears the Premium AP pass at DL gets you free parking at the park and 10% merchandise discount.
