Hi everybody,
I will be staying off-site during Halloween and was wondering if anbody has trick or treated at Celebration or any other area surrounding WWD.
Thanks!!!

Most of the neighborhoods out my way are gated. You would not be able to get in. Last year was our first Halloween in Orlando. It was a little sad. We only had a couple of kids come to the house. I have no idea about Celebration. You might want to think about DTD instead.

We went last year to DTD to trick or treat with my little Buzz and Woody. All of the shops in DTD had trick or treat stations. We didn't get alot of candy, but the kids liked seeing the other costumes and liked hearing "Hey there is BUZZ and WOODY!!" and there were street performers and a DJ playing for a dance party. That was on Halloween. We stayed at Summer Bay last year and they had a Halloween party there, we got more candy there. We had thought about going to Celebration, but the "line of cars" was very, very long to get into town. So I wouldn't recommend that. Have fun!! :earboy2:

The people who live near downtown have reported over the past two years that they have had over 1000 kids come to their door on Halloween!! People come from all over the area here to trick or treat and it is a zoo near the downtown. We live in East Village and only get a few dozen kids each year - thank God.

I myself would not take my children trick or treating to people I don't know, maybey try to find a mall that does the indoor trick or treating. Or what about the not so scary halloween party.. My DD would be thrilled to just be at Disney. But thats just our family.

PLease do not take your family to a local neighborhood! I love Halloween, it's my favorite holiday. My only pet peeve with it is when people from other neighborhoods come into ours to trick or treat. We live in a nice enclosed development with about 100 kids living here already. Every year, we actually see many parents drive into our neighborhood, park the car and then go trick or treating around here. I don't have enough money to buy candy for 200 kids! It's also unfair to the kids that do live here. I, and most of our neighbors, used to be very generous with the treats but we can't do it anymore! Many neighbors now just put out candy on the porch and go out for the day....when the candy runs out (or is all stolen early, which usually happens...not saying it's the "outside" kids, it very well could be the ones that live here too) that's it.

Would you want 100's of extra kids show up at your door? I'm sure you aren't the only one thinking of going to local neighborhoods. Please do not take this as a personal flame, it's not meant to be. I realize the idea sounds innocent enough but please look at it from the homeowners point of view :)

I agree with going to DTD or to the mall. They usually have lots of treats for the kids. The atmosphere is probably fun for them too.

Stimpy...you are right. I never thought about the other side of the story. I think that DTD is a great idea and will be taking my kids there.
Everybody else, thanks for the great ideas.
