Trial period for a new type of express

I think this is a good idea. I can't tell you how many times I've had families get mad when they hear that Disney doesn't offer the kind of express that Universal does. They would make a killing if they did.

This is one thing I dislike about Universal's ticketing. I wish that they would come up with an unlimited express feature that can be purchased. It would make it a lot easier to ride MIB over and over....

The reasoning behind the changing prices is to keep the lines down. If you are really willing to shell out 60 bucks....then you dont mind what you get. Most people that do the express are first timers, or dont do it that often anyway.....all of us old timers know the secrets of getting all the rides in before the lines start.

We are Universal nuts here but economic considerations are forcing us to stay offsite this year. Oh well, better offsite than not at all!

As for Disney not offering the express that Universal does, I suspect that it would be way too complex in MK because of size. I wonder if they couldn't do it in a smaller venue like Animal Kingdom though? I guess that they want to be consistent though.

I like that idea as well since I love MIB too. I also love Mummy. I could ride those two over and over again.

I think it will be a money-maker for them, but I like the idea of being able to get a book of passes (maybe 10) that you can use all of on the same ride better. Or maybe something unlimited after a certain time, like the premier pass which is unlimited after 4 p.m. (or maybe not...don't want to devalue my premier too much!).

homie, you are right, better to stay off site than not come at all to the darkside for fun ...

i have stayed offsite the first few years i went with the kids.
now i go solo and stay onsite, as i feel more secure that way.

Single riders line in the answer to that problem. We've done it for 3 hours in a row. Crazy 17 year old boys.

as far as the new trial passes....my 2 cents is this.....i think it's worth the try...after all, look how many people complained when they removed the free express pass kiosks.....maybe this is a solution to that?? (well, not free, but more affordable than the alternative)


and Bev....i don't think there's a flamefest goin on.....but we could start on if you want us too....

I think UO should take this a step further: say, Earthquake and Twister express passes are not worth as much as MIB and Mummy Express Passes. UO could make a killing on a sliding scale of express passes, based on ride popularity.

One thing I am not clear on: are these new express passes ride specific? Or do you get 3 express passes, and you can use them on whatever ride you want?

Glad I checked this board before getting on the plane to Orlando later today.

Phamton -- is this new type of Express Pass available this week? Will we be faced with the choice of $40 EPPs or the new pass when we get to Universal on Wednesday? We had budgeted $20 per person for the Express Passes.

Not Phamton, but I think I can answer part of your question. I think you will still go by the rate on the UO site for your particular for the original EP booklet. I'm pretty sure the $40-$60 EP was only used as an example of the Spring Break price. I could be wrong though. If you haven't checked already, this link should give you an idea of what you can expect to pay for the regular EP:

How we gonna do that? Most of us don't have enough experience with the purchased EPs to put together an intelligible argument. Now, if she posts on the UO Resorts board that the hotels are all going up a minimum $100/ night above their rack rate, she better put on a double layer of flame retardent suits.

You proved my point! I don't know enough about purchased EPs to correctly answer a simple question.

On paper the idea sounds good, and I understand the reasoning behind it. But it almost seems like they're selling tickets for the most popular rides. Kinda like the old Disney days when you'd walk up to a window and buy an E ticket.
If they have stands near the most popular rides, then it's going to make the regular guests on a budget angry. If it's a low key thing sold at the front of the park, then it might work.

I am asking this question here because you are discussing line waits. We will be there between Nov. 24 and Dec. 1- How are the lines for this time of the year without the passes?

Thanksgiving is on Thursday the 22nd so expect very long lines on Friday and Saturday. Starting on the 25th the crowds will most likely be minimal though. The Sunday after Thanksgiving is usually when people start travelling home so the rest of your trip shouldn't be busy.
