Trex ?????

We are taking our DS to Trex and and I would LOVE info. as to what they have/do for the kids?

Do they give the kids dinosaurs? TIA

They don't really *do* anything..but if your kids are into dinosaurs, the theming is amazing. The have huge animitronic (sp?) dino's throughout that come to life throughout your meal. The menu is large, as are the portions, but we have found the food to be average at best and expensive. They have a large gift shop (shocking, I know) with a Build-Your-Own-Dino area (owned by Build a Bear). They also have a fun sandy area outside where kids can dig and find dino bones (similar to the Dig Site in AK).
If you want to make an ADR you can call them direct (you can find their phone# on the landry's website, as well as the menu).

My advice is to skip T-Rex -- yes, go in and look around and take pictures -- even stop in the gift shop but DO NOT EAT THERE unless you have a ton of money to waste -- It's way overpriced and the food is below average -- I was so disappointed! My son would have much rather spent some money in the gift shop and looked around and then we could have left and spent our money at a good restaurant like Fulton's instead.

I agree with beachgirl2000 about it being pretty pricey... You definitely go there for the atmosphere and not the food! But the atmosphere definitely makes it worth it! We make it a point to go to T-Rex every trip... but we just sit at the bar and have drinks. (For kids they have soft drinks that come in a cool light up cup!)

The restaurant is filled with animatronic dinosaurs... and every 20 min or so they have a meteor shower show that is pretty exciting!

The whole restaurant is a lot of fun, and I'd definitely recommend going! Especially if your DS really likes dinosaurs! But since it can be expensive you may just want to go for drinks and appetizers, or just for dessert or something.

It's way overpriced and the food is below average -- I was so disappointed! ... Just my opinion!

My DS24 and I ate there a week or so ago and I was surprised that the food was delicious! Maybe we got lucky, but I had never eaten there and we enjoyed the dinosaurs, so we thought we would try it. So I have to say it might be worth trying. Individual results may vary.

We liked T-Rex (we like the food available to us, we're vegetarians, at Rainforest Cafe, too...the menu is limited for us, but tasty!).

Things to keep in mind. It's LOUD. If you have anyone with sensitive ears, bring earplugs. It's also huge.

Depending on where you sit, the meteor shower will be different. We sat in the, hmm....next to the ice cave room, not in the main room with the "proper" meteor shower room...can't remember the name. Anyway, dinosaurs moved and such, but the other rooms had cooler stuff going on in them. Our server, however, made sure to let us know that we were more than welcome to go to the other rooms when the meteor shower started, and we did do that!

We have the Safari Club card from Rainforest Cafe, and that works at T-Rex too...gives you a discount or a free appetizer (from a short list) with an entree, and so the adults tend to share when we go. It's a lot of food, in our opinion. So sharing works for us, and brings the cost down. Although on our T-Rex night, the server let us know there's some big combo thing and the Safari Club card got us $5 off it...she let us know what we could substitute to keep it veggie, and we opted for that. LARGE amount of food, and we ate it, which is really unusual for us.

My son and I hit up T-Rex with no reservations during the period running up to marathon weekend. I had tried online, with no luck. Took a gamble at the podium and got in within 15 minutes. Our server was very personable and attentive. The theming is on par with the Rainforest. I thought the burger I has was not great, but good. It was certainly overpriced, but a fun experience. We did hit the Build A Dino and gift shop after the meal. The saber tooth tiger my son made is probably his favorite souvenir from the trip. If you've got a dino fan in the family, I'd say its certainly worth at least one visit.

How has TRex been lately? I'm deciding whether to make a ressie there in December. We've been there twice: food excellent, line que to get in HORRIBLE as everyone waits in the same line whether you have an ADR or not. Anything I should know?
