We've booked a treehouse for our upcoming trip. I just got my "room request" on-line go ahead. Anyone have good advice on location? I'd like to assume that the treehouses are fairly quiet and remote. Any tips? And is there a direct walkway to Disney Springs?

If possible, please post the options you were given. We stayed there five years ago and loved it, and I know I made a request, but I don’t remember how they worded the options. I wanted to be near the Grandstand section, as we had no car and could easily walk to the bus stop.

here's what shows up:
upper floor, lower floor, near Carriage House, near elevator, near pool, near transportation, near paddock, near congress park, near walkway to Springs.
some of these make no sense at all for Treehouses!

I cannot help you but I have always wanted to stay in a Treehouse villa so I clicked on your thread just to read it.
I am glad you add the statement that some of your option for room location do not make sense at all for the Treehouses because when I was reading the list, upper floor, lower floor, etc. I was very confused until I read your comment.

You would think that Disney would actually list options that are available for you to choose from and not confuse people with ones that are simply not an option due to the actual physical building of the resort.

The only option that makes sense is near pool, all the rest only apply to Saratoga Springs.

Don't use the requests with online check-in. Email DVC or call to put in a request. If you have a car you will be using then closer to the road is better. If you will be using Disney transportation then close to the pool will be closest to the walkway to the bus stop. There is a boat dock at the Tree House area, the boat runs a route from there to the main dock at SSR and then to Disney Springs.

While technically possible to walk to Disney Springs in practice it is a haul.

The treehouse villas are not really in a location to walk to Disney Springs without it being a long hike. There is a boat dock there that will take you to Disney Springs and back around to SSR and the internal bus system should still be in place. I personally would request close to transportation as my location request because the more remote cabins can be a hike to the dock + internal bus stop. Unless they have changed the bus routes (which they might have it's been a year since we stayed at SSR) you would take the bus from the treehouses to a section inside SSR, get off, and then board whichever bus you were wanting to get on.

If you cross over the bridge at the treehouse villas and walk along the canal as you would coming from OKW it is only about 10 Minutes walk to the house of blues end of Disney Springs.

We stayed in a treehouse right by the boat dock and found it easy to walk to Disney Springs certainly not a hike although I can imagine if you are near the gate area this does add quite a distance.

I think the problem with them is they are part of SSR so they get the same check in options SSR gets. They have fixed the rest of the online check in options from the ones they had when they first made the last round of changes. But the Treehouse may never get fixed unless they ungroup them from SSR

Thanks for the input! According to maps I see where you can walk to DS along the House of Blues end. Of course if I'm not in a hiking mood boat it is! (just wondering is the boat shared with POR?)

No, the SSR boat is dedicated to SSR only. No OKW, No PO resorts.

Thanks! next question - you are all so helpful! DH is a cigar guy. Can he just light up on the deck? Or does he need to walk a mile to a smoking area?

Sorry, but no smoking on porches or patios. He'll have to walk to the smoking area to light that thing up.

To expand on this... Yes the boat you will get is a SSR only boat however it is the boat driver from the POR boat that lets the driver of the SSR boat that someone is waiting for the boat otherwise the boat will not go to the tree house dock... unless someone on the boat wants to go there.... point is make sure you waive to any boats that pass by and they see you if you are the boat dock...

Wait...what? You have to flag down a boat?? They just don't stop? I'm glad I read this! hysterical. Walking sounds better and quicker! Oh and has anyone snuck a smoke on the deck? Who'd know?

Just be ready to pay the $500 fine if you are caught.
