TreeHouse Resort (on river near PO)

Just bumping this thread up in case anyone had interior photos to share. From the descriptions of the round, deep bathtub, I'm guessing it's a Japanese soaking tub, called a "Furo." Did it look like this?

I stayed in a "treehouse" with my family during our vacation to Disney back when I was 7. I'm now 33...so, that would be about 26 years ago...1979?

I don't remember much because I was young...but, I do vaguely remember:

....the peacocks (explained to me at the time as turkeys with colorful feathers)

.....my father renting a golf cart that seated all 4 of us

.....our family possibly driving the golf cart to the village area to each lunch one day and rent a boat for a few hours?????

.....waiting for Disney buses that had colored flags designating where that particular bus was heading?????

......and I remember there being a spiral staircase leading downstairs where there was a washer and dryer....but, I don't remember if there was another bedroom down there as we (the kids) were forbidden from playing on the stairs and were supposed to stay upstairs.

Also...my mom said we paid something like $89 per night back then....

I'll see if I can find any old pictures to scan and post......

One of the boat operators gave us the "tour" as we passed once. According to him Disney was going to re-do them and open them back up.

I have never seen these before. Im going to be on the lookout when we take the boat to DTD. ::MinnieMo

WHen we took the boat to DTD in Dec 04, the captain stated that over half were damaged in the hurricanes last summer. The trees were still on the villas.

Our boat captain told us that there is red tape moving the downed and broken trees - again wetland protection issues. There were lots of sideways trees from the hurricanes, a couple had fallen onto the treehouses.

I remember they were still open in 1999 and 2000. Many people who stayed in them also complained it was to much "like camping"., far away from everything, bad transportation. I think they closed when the Institiute did. The pool is maintained there and is used for lifeguard training. There were rumor that they would be reopened with the expansion of SSR.
