Treehouse questions

I just booked the treehouse was surprised it was still open as reservations was only 7 months and a week away than i checked and there was openings for less than 7 months away. With only 60 treehouses you will think they will fill up fast. So my questions is whats wrong with the treehouses? I know there is a bus or boat that will take you to the treehouse if you want to walk about how many minutes to walk? how often does the bus come? do they have wifi in the treehouses? would you stay in the treehouses again? any other things you want to add about the treehouses positive or negative go ahead thanks

They are what they are. You will be away from the SSR amenities, pool, food, etc. It's like living in a forest in a tree house, very quiet, dark at night, great if you want to be alone.

Some have a view of water but most have a view of trees.

I stayed in them as a kid, I thought they were pretty neat. I was around 5...34 years ago. They have changed since, but kids would probably get a kick out of them.

It's not really a question of something being wrong with them. It's really a matter of the points required to stay in them. Back before Disney reallocated the points, the Treehouses went for the same points as a two bedroom. They would book up very fast. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, sleeping 9. Now, that they cost more points it's not as much of a value. 9 people & two bathrooms can be tight and as mentioned in a previous post, it is off the beaten path from the main resort. Although you can walk or take a bus, having a car at the Treehouses is quite handy.

I've stayed there twice and LOVE them. The outdoor space, decks, outdoor grilling parking right at your unit all pluses for me. We enjoyed taking the boat to dtd but usually walked to SSR when we wanted to go over to the main resort. We requested a villa near the Grand Stand path to SSR. It was a nice walk through the golf course. With the point increase recently they are not as appealing to us since my DD's are all adults now and do not like the bunk beds. If the 3rd bedroom had a double bed, queen bed or even 2 twin beds it would be worth it to us to keep staying there even with the increase in points.

Pretty easy... Disney can reallocate room categories. If they raise one room type or season, they have to lower another so overall total point balance remains the same. I can't remember what went down but I'm sure someone else will. We stayed in the Treehouses right before the change. I enjoyed staying there. But for my family, we find that using our SSR points goes farther at OKW (which usually has availability at 7 months when we like to travel) plus more square footage.

Lucky You! I had planned on booking one and the next year they changed points around. Stayed at a two bedroom at Old Key west that year instead.. Had to back away for now with the point cost.

We enjoyed our stay in a THV, but we were doing a non-parks trip and had a car, so transportation wasn't an issue. If you are relying on Disney buses, you either have to take a bus from the THV to SSR and then switch buses to get to a park, or you need to request to be close to the walkway to SSR so you can walk over and take a bus from there. We were all the way at the front entrance to the THV (like I said, we weren't using buses) and it would have been a hike to SSR, but it was an easy drive to use the pools. We'd stay in a THV again (kids loved the bunkbeds), but only if we were doing a more relaxing trip with less park time.

I noticed the availability too yesterday and was surprised…then I saw that it was a queen bed in two rooms, and a bunk bed in the other and thought "Forget that!!" When you have 3 sets of adults, nobody wants to sleep in a bunk bed…and if I'm going to have a 3 bedroom, me and DH will have a KING bed So, I'm going to go with a 2-bedroom at OKW, where the other room has two queen beds, and one has a king bed. The couples don't mind sharing a bedroom with their own bathroom and queen beds (which one couple could still use the queen pull-out if they want).

Anyway, it was the beds that turned me off the idea. I don't know if this might contribute to the availability or not.

We've staying the THV twice, and probably will again in the future. However, I will admit that the extra points over a two-bedroom will certainly be a consideration.

The studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom went down by 1 point. The grand villa went down 2 points, and the treehouse went up 5 points.

I stayed there with family and friends on a non- park vacation. One had an annual pass and 2 were newbies to THV so it was a treat. Enjoyed the walk to the pool in that complex also. If you had all adults it would be cramped with the bunk beds in one bedroom and only 2 bathrooms to share. I do love the setting in the trees for a change of pace! I own at OKW and SSR ...but my heart is still in OKW as we bought back in 1993! We had cars with us so buses were not a problem.

When DVD was marketing the THV they used the "stay in a 3 bedroom for the same point price as a 2 bedroom spiel". As soon as the THV points were sold, they increased the point cost to stay there.

Makes me feel kind of manipulated.

Me too since the THV were the reason we bought SSR - just glad I bought resale!
