Treehouse DVC - More Evidence??

We just returned Tuesday and while on a vist to SSR to delcine the OKW extension, we were told by a CM and a QA staffer that the Tree Houses are being re-built and WILL be independant DVC units. With check in at SSR. No date was given for when they will be available.

Interesting.

I wonder what the justification would be for making that decision. The entire complex is two bedroom villas, so an owner couldn't even book a Studio, One Bedroom or Three Bedroom until the 7 month window.

And then there's the budget issue. Dues are likely to be quite high with so few villas.

I also wonder about the legalities of such a move. For years the treehouse property was included in the POS for Saratoga Springs. There was no guarantee that DVC would develop that area into Villas, but to ultimately develop the land and subsequently carve it out as a separate resort seems a bit...shady to say the least. Can DVC really market SSR as including the Treehouse land, only to remove the land and place it in a different condo association? Isn't that misrepresentation?

Above all, by making them a separate property what advantage does DVC gain? They can set the point charts and prices wherever they wish regardless of whether they are part of SSR or a separate resort. Wouldn't the Treehouses' appeal allow the points to sell just as quickly if packaged as SSR points? I can't imagine there are many people out there thinking "I'd buy into the Treehouses but ONLY if they are separate from Saratoga Springs." :confused3

Will this mean another bus stop at SSR? So SSR will have 6 bus stops?
Sheesh!

No biggie, IMO. OKW has 5 stops already. The BW-Dolphin-Swan loop probably takes more time since the resorts are spread further apart than SSR and the treehouses.

Two additional stops shouldn't add more than 3-5 minutes of wait time to each round-trip journey, and would hopefully justify a moderate increase in frequency of service.

I just don't get what the big deal is about the "tree houses"? Whats the history behind them that make them so appealing? Would the decor be rustic?

It would be nice to include them in SSR since the 11th month window for the resort is kinda useless. This way SSR would have some kind of exclusive feel to it like the smaller DVC resorts. Having said that they will probably be independent. Either way they will be very popular.
