I stayed at por last year and on the boat ride to dtd I saw other hotels and tree houses, can anyone tell me about them?

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :dance3: :dance3: :yay: :yay:

they were part of the disney institute years ago and have been sitting empty for more than 7 years. they sometimes have lights on at nite.

They were part of the old "Disney Institute", and I think they have college students stay there now. I read here that they are too old to update, and they don't want to use the land for something else.

the other hotels were probobly french quarter, old key west and saratoga springs.

were once places you could stay but now they have been turned into employee housing we were told by someone at SSR. SSr now sets where the Disney instute was originally I was told. We have came real close to these rooms a couple of times and they look cool, I would think they probably went over like hotcakes when they were used cool locations and setting back in those trees. we have gone by when the lights were on in some of the rooms and they have stove and ref in them we can see.

The treehouses are used by the international students who work at Epcot. There are several interesting videos of them on youtube showing the kids living there and the treehouses -both inside and outside.

:surfweb:

They are now used by college kids doing the internship program at WDW. So says my DS who is looking at applying for the program.

My college roommate stayed in them when she did the college program at disney. But that was four years ago...it's probably still the same though.:thumbsup2

A very old vacation video - we had gotten when Disney Institute was big. They had pictures of the treehouses. My daughter said some international students lived in SOME while she was in the college program. Others are used for storage.

Cool, when I was on the college program the only place was Vista Way, Across I-4 basically from the Disney Village, now called downtown Disney.

I stayed in the tree houses as a guest many many years ago. They were lots of fun.

I was a Port Orleans River Side yesterday and saw the tree houses from teh river, very cool, so looked on here to see about renting one again. I was surprized to still see them along the river, and glad to see they were still there back in the woods.

What a great place for College kids to stay. Would be cool to be there while on the College program. Vista Way was fun back in the day, but it was a massive apartment complex, not individual tree houses, some with a water view.

We stayed in one of the treehouses on our first trip to Disney 25 years ago. They were great. Peacocks wondered around in the woods. We had our own dock on the canal. You could rent a golf cart to drive around the area. The treehouses themselves were round, with a fun layout, huge deck and plenty of room for 6 of us. We'd rent one again if we could! It was the best place we've ever stayed.

We went by the treehouse villas on the way to the DVC preview center at SSR. I was very surprised to see that there is still a sign at the entrance to the villas, as well as an automatic gate. The gate is not such a surprise, but I'm not sure why they would keep the sign for a non-public area...

My family stayed at the Tree Houses when I was a kid. It's a shame they aren't available to the public anymore. I thought they were the coolest place to stay at Disney.

The land surrounding the Treehouses is now protected. As such, renovating them to make them ADA compliant would be impossibly prohibitive while protecting the land around them.

As such, they're used as is for the CP program employees.

They are cool tho!
