Has anyone stayed in the Tree House Villas?

We are starting to look into our next DW trip, it will probably be Oct '12 (4kids, 4adults).

How is the transportation to/from the parks? They look nice and we are leaning towards them, but would love to know what you've thought.

We've stayed at Wilderness Lodge before and love how convenient the bus and ferry are from the resort.

TIA

Kelly

There all up in the air, as for bus's, yes they have bus's that come and go from stops inside the villas. the last i knew the tree houses were part of the DVC. ;)

I believe they are available to the general public only if there is availability though, DVC gets first choice. I only assume this because I have seen the choice for a tree house villa when planning trips.

We stayed in the THV Aug, '10 THere were 7 of us. Basically 5 adults and 2 kids. We loved staying there, lots of room washer and dryer, full kitchen, all made the trip really comfortable. That being said, I would not stay there with out a car. We rented a van because my family hates the buses. The bus service at THV takes youto the main resort (Saratoga Springs) for transportation to the parks. You can get a boat directly to DTD which is nice. Also, depending on where your villa is located it could be a 5-10 minute walk to the resort. Our villa was at the very front so it was more like a 15 minute walk. Probably a littile over a mile. We really enjoyed our stay there but I can't imagine staying there without a car.

We stayed in a THV over Labor Day Weekend 2011. They are really beautiful - granite kitchen, spa-like bath, plenty of room - but I agree that a car makes the difference. Unless you are patient and don't mind walking and waiting. Also, THV are not easy to book, so call early if you decide to give them a try.

The THV are part of the SSR which is a DVC resort. Availability for cash through Disney Reservation Center does occur if a member trades out their points for the Disney Collection or if not all the villas have been sold to members.

There is a bus that goes through the THV, collecting guests and then takes them to either the Grandstand or Springs bus stop at SSR. The guests have to take a bus from one of those bus stops to the parks. You can also walk from the THV to the Grandstand.

There is limited parking at the THV, so you only have one parking space. Any additional vehicles must be parked over by the Grandstand

The THV has three bedrooms. One with a connected bathroom and a single queen sized bed, another with a queen sized bed and the third with a set of bunk beds (not all that good for adults but fine for kids). There is a second bathroom for the second and third bedroom. The living room has a queen sized sleeper sofa and a twin sized sleeper chair.
