Tredmill question

I workout primarily on a tredmill with some track, street, and trail workouts intermixed. I ran a 5k on Sunday and posted a 37 minutes and change time with 12:11 miles. I tried to repeat this on the tredmill and the pace was too fast. On Sunday, I had a comfortable pace. Has anyone else have this happen to them? I'm training for the WDW Half marathon in January and want to make sure I'm under the pace requirements!

I do primarily treadmill running too (can't leave the kid home alone while I go out to run at 5:30am, blast Child Protective services:laughing: ) but I ran a 5k in Sept in 37:17. I usually run 15 minute miles on the treadmill, but ran 12's on the street. Now, a few weeks later, I can run the 12's on the treadmill. Sometimes its mental, sometimes your treadmill is not calibrated correctly and the speed is off. If I run on the treadmill at the gym, it is way slower than mine at home (go figure). I would say run at a pace that is slightly challenging and keep at it. Try increasing your speed every so often until you get to where you want to be.

I'm no expert, but I find this is what has worked for me. Good luck on the Half marathon-it is one of my goals to someday RUN the whole thing!!!

I always go slower on the TM than I do on the road. I think it's the consistancy on the TM. I can go slower/faster on the road, the TM is constant effort, same speed/incline. With the cold weather/snow coming quickly, I know I'll be on the TM more than outside. I try to cut myself some slack, but keep on pushing it, if that makes sense.
