Treated as DVC Member?

My family and I will be staying at the OKW in January as the result of a I-know-someone-who deal who went through II and had confirmed reggies for the week we were able to travel (he had an emergency and couldn't use the reggies).

Once the reggies are in my name, do I have access to DVC phone help, etc.?

I know through reading the boards that I won't be able to do the MYW w/ dining package (unless something miraculous occurs between now and January), but can I call and have tickets added? We've had tickets on the room key, and separate from the room key and we definitely like the "on-the-room-key" option better.

Also - will our Room tags say "DVC Member" for the other perks? We technically would be a guest, but not of a DVC (direct) member.

Lastly, I've been told that Disney will ask for a $95.00 fee for use of the park transportation. If we have park tickets is this necessary?

Thank You!!!!!

Deborah

You will not be entitled to any DVC member perks, since you are a guest by II exchange. You should be certain you have a guest certificate from the person who made the exchange. (BTW, II has rules against renting exchanges.)

You will need to pay the $95 exchange fee - that is an II policy with DVC and has no relationship to having WDW transportation thru admission media.

MYW passes may be purchased at the resort at check-in and applied to your room id. Your room id will not likely state "DVC Member" since your reservation was not made using points by a DVC member.

Have a great stay!

Thank you so much! We were wondering how that would work.

My husband has decided that we should become DVC members since we go to Disney so often and enjoy staying Deluxe when we are there. Is there any benefit (in your opinion) to becoming one prior to our vacation versus getting the "sign up" and tour treatment while we are there? If we become members prior to January, does that effect any of the services we would be entitled to when checking in? or would any benefits be tied to the (blue?) ID card versus the room key.

If you become a member prior to your trip, you would have access to some benefits like dining discounts, discounts to PI and water parks and the DVC discount on an AP or PAP - but you'd still not have access to pool hopping (since that requires "DVC Member" on your room id). You'd still need to pay the $95 II fee for the exchange.

Enjoy!

Can someone explain to me what "II" means. I rented points from a DVC member and was told nothing of $95 fee for transportation. Hope this is something different than what I have.

Please explain - thanks

II is an abbreviation for Interval International. It is an exchange company that allows owners at some timeshares to trade into DVC (and allows DVC members to exchange out to other timeshares).

We don't allow exchanges to be rented on our site - if anyone suggests that there will be an additional $95 fee it is probably an exchange and it would be helpful to report the poster offering that as a rental.

II exchanges incur a $95 fee, but there is no such charge for reservations by members made using DVC points.

You don't have access to Member Services because this is not a DVC reservation. Only DVC members have access to MS and making additions/changes/etc to the reservation. Tickets can be purchased when you check in and they should probably put them on your room ID.

PHEW :scared: Thanks for the clarification - was worried for a minute there!

II exchanges DO have access to MS to make requests for their reservation. MS is the contact for these exchanges. The information about II contacts will be provided by II on the confirmation letter.
