When you trick or treat are you given a bag for treats or do we need to purchase?
We are not looking to take home the big haul , just a nice amount for the kids to choose some special treats from.
Thanks

They provide you with one small bag per person, but I would bring your own if intend to collect a lot. We didn't want a lot of candy for our toddler daughter, so the three bags they provided us were fine. But you certainly could fill a grocery bag if you brought one.

Like a regular size bag at Bath and Body works or Starbucks. Do you know the ones I'm talking about? Maybe 6 or 7 inches tall?

...but if I said twice the volume of a brown lunch bag would that be about right?

We have 5 adults & my 7 yr old DS. So plenty of extra bags if he needs them. But we will probably put some of it in a backpack so it's easy to carry. The last thing I want to do is cart around pounds of candy all night! ;)

See this post from the Halloween Superthread, with photos of alternate trick or treat bags you can buy/use at DL (if you don't want to use the plastic bag that is given to you). I saw all of them being carried around.

Many people carry the park-bought tote bags. The orange bags were abundant (they were about $5.00). I bought the green & black twinkling bag (which is back this year, except this time it's actually orange and black, but it has the same design), which was about $10 and was a hot item. It was hard to find until just a couple of hours before the party started.

The other thing is that the plastic bags that are given out are not very Halloween-ish. Usually they don't have any Halloween symbols or imagery on them, and instead are advertisements for Disney movies that are out and other things. I like bags that actually look like Halloween bags and not ads for movies! I only mention this because it may be a big deal to kids to have bags that actually look Halloween-ish.

Those glow in the dark bags are pretty cool!

Let me ask you- the link mentions using a Mickey lantern to light your way on the treat trails. So does that mean that a flashlight is needed?? I hadn't even thought about that!

I loved that green/black twinkly bag!:rotfl2: I may just smuggle it in again this year, even though they are selling its orange and black counterpart. At least it can be reused, which is good.

That's a good question about the flashlight!

Some of the treat trails in Disneyland are much darker than others, so I suppose it wouldn't hurt to get some sort of lighted device. Also, some families may not do most of their candy collecting until after it gets dark (but you can start collecting right at the start of the party if you choose to, when it's not fully dark yet).

Some of the trails are located in the queues for rides, the lines for (closed) restaurants or inside buildings. Each trail should be marked by a ghost Mickey, and each station along the trail should be marked by an earless, orange Mickey face. The trails and stations inside buildings or in ride queues may be more well-lit. Innoventions' trail is very well-lit.

Then you get to the treat trails in Critter Country, Frontierland or in Pixie Hollow, and they can be quite dark (but not so much that you can't see things).

There are some light-up thingies and fun Halloween-ish flashlight-type devices sold in the park as well, so I suppose that Disney is keeping in mind that some folks may need them. The Mickey ghost lanterns were particularly fun (they are a wee bit smaller than the ghost Mickey popcorn buckets - but the buckets could be used as candy collectors).

I bought a couple 2012 Halloween totes from DisneyStore.com for the kids to use. Can't wait

I made up our own canvas tote bags for the occasion, ordered from Vistaprint.

I'm attaching a photo from 2011. My daughter in the Cinderella dress was using 2 of the free bags because her 1st filled up quickly. My youngest had asked for a special rapunzel bag from target before our trip. You can see that the free bags are quite small. About the size 7" x 9" x 3" if I had to guess.

How long do you wait in each line?

It depends on which treat trails/stations you visit. Some of them have virtually no lines at all, if they happen to be tucked away in unexpected places. Some of them have seemingly long lines that move very fast (like the line at the Golden Horseshoe, for example, looks very long but moves quickly). It's not a very lengthy process - the CM's handing out the candy tend to keep things moving quickly.

And if you are looking for the healthier treats like the apple slices and carrots and things like that, be sure to ask for them. The CM's will automatically just put handfuls of candy in your bags unless you specify that you want healthy treats.

Thanks, Sherry. Gah, this is starting to sound like fun. I have a feeling we're going to be plunking down the $300 we saved with gay days tickets for a Halloween party. :p

Now I have a visual.
