TREASURE TO BE CHRISTENED IN NYC!!!!

I work in a high rise on 9th ave & 32nd st, so I wonder if I can see the ship! Do you know when it'll likely be leaving on Nov 20th? I have a clear view of the Hudson, so I'd definitely be able to see the ship leaving. Not sure about at the port.

It looks like there will be some sort of drone or fireworks show at 8pm tonight. I got this alert on the NYC Ferry Site for their line that runs up the Hudson River past Chelsea Piers..

I got an NYC alert the other day about fireworks tonight. It said they are for Project NYC 718? I am not sure what Project NYC 718 is though.

All we heard about in our meeting with specifics to the christening was drones. Not sure what this is.

Edit: that is definitely something else, Project NYC 718 is a local arts group.

Thanks Kylenne. I was really curious about what Project NYC 718 was about.

I can't find anything about Project NYC 718 so I'm not sure it's something different. Being at the exact same time in the exact same place on a non-holiday as the Treasure Christening is too much to be a coincidence. Of course I could be dead wrong, but knowing the city permitting process, I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a company that Disney subbed out the fireworks to or used as a shell to keep the fireworks on the dl.

It's a local arts group. Disney may have contracted them for the display.

I honestly would not be surprised for the fireworks to be cancelled since we are in a drought and there are wildfires in NJ and New York (even in NYC in Harlem there's a new one today). Drones could still happen, but I would not be surprised for the fireworks part to be nixed. I don't think publicity of "ship christening fireworks set off more fires" is something Disney wants - or needs.

I'd agree, but they're over the river between Chelsea and Hoboken. I really don't think there's any real risk there.

That being said if it's fireworks AND drones I'd imagine it's more heavily focused on the drones and just a couple quick fireworks at the beginning/end.

Once aloft those hot ashes can go anywhere though. I know when it gets too dry in California they suspend fireworks at Disneyland out of caution. They may risk it, but I'm just saying be prepared for there to not be fireworks and consider it a surprise if they do have them. And keep your fingers crossed that everything falls into the river where it's supposed to.

This was absolutely amazing to see in person!
