Im looking for a hotel for the night before we depart nr st pancras, has anyone any experience of staying in either travelodge on kings cross (theres 2)?

I looked n trip advisor as they travelodge have rooms for £9 atm but a lot of the reports and pictures were nasty and one bloke is covered in bits from sleeping in the bed!

We've used the travelodge at Ashford before and have just booked again for our next visit. Luckily we managed to get a £9 room.

If it's just somewhere to rest your head on your way to/from Disney, then it's fine. Don't expect toiletries, hairdryer etc - and if you need the sofa bed you'll need to make that up yourself - but we've never had a problem. As long as its clean, comfortable and warm, that'll do me.

I had a look on trip advisor too and to be honest if you look up Disney hotels too, there are many, many poor reviews about those too. I try not to take too much notice. Wherever I stay, I always thoroughly check the room first, before bringing in luggage. If it's that bad, I'll ask to be moved.

try travelodge waterloo, its not open yet opens in the next few months so should be clean and new

We have stayed at the Kings Cross Royal Scott Travelodge which is 10 minutes walk from St. Pancras station and found it OK. This Travelodge is popular with European coach parties, and we saw a few coaches arrive and depart while staying there.

Thanks jonjo, was it clean?

Quite a few reviews on trip advisor shows pics of mouldy windows, moudly run down bathrooms, wripped mattresses, tatty sheets etc

We stayed at the Royal Scot Dec 08, we found the rooms tiny and it was noisy when the pubs/clubs kicked out when people were coming back into the hotel slamming doors and tvs etc. It was fairly close to the station, we walked both there and back,

I think it must be a fairly old hotel too so the facilities were poor standard, bathroom dirty etc, on our return journey we had no kettle and after asking at reception were told that we couldn't have one until the housekeeping came in the next morning at 9am

Sam your comments tie in with trip report as much as I love a bargain I wouldnt be able to rest in a hotel that is dirty and I think it would be a bad start to our holiday

May book Premier Inn instead as havent read anything bad about them

Our bedroom and bathroom were very clean and we found the hotel quiet and we got a good nights sleep. The breakfast was good too. This was back in June 2008.

We stayed in Kings Cross Travelodge the night before our DLP trip and found it very good.

It is a 2 min walk round the corner from the Eurostar station and the hotel was clean and comfortable. It is basic, but has everything you need for an overnight stay. The hotel itself is set in a large house, so has a very unusual (but good) feel to it.

One of the Travelodges in Kings Cross is located above the underground (can't remember which one) and it can be disturbing on the eyebags to say the least. I've stayed in both and I didn't find them dirty as such, just remember a lot of people from all around the world travel to London all year round, so they are well used! I would pick somewhere with a good report and pay extra for peace of mind :goodvibes
