Has anyone experienced any problem bringing their DSLR camera/bag on the plane with them? In the past, I'd pack my point and shoot and accessories in my bags, but I kinda hate to do that with this. I'd rather bring it on the plane with me. ( Camera, lenses and all ). Cabin size constraints is not a problem, my bag would fit nicely under a seat as it's much smaller than a laptop bag. But I'm worried there'll be a problem with having a camera in the cabin.

just being paranoid?

I had my fiance take our DSLR on our last trip. I think he had a knapsack that he put the camera, laptop and some lenses into. We took it on the plane with us - no hassles. I've seen people taking pictures while their on the plane so I don't think it should be a problem.

We have a DSLR, and it's certainly not a problem to bring in cabin. In fact, I'm sure you'd find very few people willing to check a DSLR (or laptop, or anything valuable) these days!

After witnessing what happens to luggage during a layover in Philly (why they had rocking chairs overlooking the baggage transport area, I'll never know), if it's important, it no longer goes into my checked baggage. Heck, if I could bring everything in cabin, I would :rotfl2:

I've flown several times with my DSLR and always take it as carryon. I don't know what you are using to carry your camera, but I have a Lowepro Compudaypack (Here's a description) which works great. It holds my Rebel XTi with my regular lens on the body (a Sigma 17-70mm) my long zoom (Canon 75-300 III USM), my 50mm F1.8 and a small tabletop tripod in the padded bottom part. It has a separate laptop compartment along the back and lots of room for other stuff. When I get to our destination I always use a backpack anyway (2 kids) so I just lock the lenses I'm not using in the in-room safe, and I'm ready to go.

does the bag count as the carry on, or is this in addition to the carry on.
